NaBloPoMo November 2012

Hey, look at me, I’m going to actually participate in something! November is National Blogging Month and I’m going to post an entry each day for the entire month. I don’t think I’ve ever done that in my entire blogging existence so it should be interesting. Probably more so for me than you since some days I’ll probably have crap to talk about, but on those days I’ll pull from the topic of suggestions on the site. I’ll have to set a reminder in my phone or sure as my name is Nicole I’ll forget one day and have failed before I even really began.

So today’s topic/question is: If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Well, it would probably be easier for me to tell you where I wouldn’t want to live: Indiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, oh the list goes on. I *think* I might like to live in Colorado, Utah, or Oregon, but seeing as how I’ve never visited any of those states this is merely a guess.

Ideally I’d like to live somewhere close to shopping and destinations but tucked away with enough land that I can’t see, smell, or hear my neighbors. I love quiet, but having lived in apartments and a townhome my whole adult life I have never enjoyed any such luxury. I grew up in a house in Chicago but houses there are very close together so you still had to deal with neighbors. And while statistics claim that less than 50% of the population smokes, we have always lived in-between smokers – my home growing up, the apartment Joe and I shared when we first got together, and now in my townhome. WTF?!? I read that the smoking rate in Utah is the lowest in the nation so that alone makes the state all the more appealing to me.

In any case we wouldn’t even considering moving to another state until the kids are older and are out in the world doing their own thing as we don’t want to miss out on spending time with them.

Well, I think that’s a good start to this whole blogging every day for a month endeavor, don’t you? Good thing I happened to post about Halloween yesterday since I didn’t learn about this challenge until today! “See” you tomorrow!

Meme: Christmas Cheer

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate, hands down.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Both. He wraps them and then puts them under the tree.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Colored lights on the tree, white lights on the house. Sometimes we add green/red to the bushes around the house too.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Whenever I feel I can tolerate looking at them until Christmas. Usually that’s about two weeks beforehand but my decorations went up two days ago and the tree will be done this weekend.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I don’t have one.

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? Getting all the Care Bear figurines.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don’t recall.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We always did all our gifts on Christmas Eve when we were kids, now we do gifts from my side of the family and between us on Christmas Day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Lights and ornaments, no theme.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Dread it. I’d be happy if I never saw it again.

12. Can you ice skate? Nope.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Yes, the monitor I’m looking at right now. Oh wait, was that a birthday gift? I don’t recall since my birthday is so close to Christmas.

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Spending time with family having fun.

15. What is your favorite holiday desert? Cookies!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Loading the kids in the car and checking out the decorations in our neighborhood and beyond.

17. What tops your tree? Nothing.

18. What is your favorite Christmas Song? I guess Let It Snow; I find it running in my head at the weirdest times but I don’t go out of my way to listen to any Christmas music.

19. Favorite Christmas Movie? Not sure I have one.

20. What do you leave for Santa? Not a damn thing. I pay the bills, not him.

Meme: Love will keep us together

1. Who is your partner?
Joe

2. How long have you been together?
Married, two years. Together a total of almost seven.

3. How long did you date?
Five years.

4. How old is your partner?
38

5. Who eats more?
Joe

6. Who said “I love you” first?
Joe. But I almost let it slip out the same day. He teases me for being the first one to say it, but I think the man should say it first because often a woman saying that can scare off a man.

7. Who is taller?
Joe

8. Who sings better?
Neither of us. We both suck and rarely sing in front of each other. It’s only alone in the car where we can’t make anyone’s ears bleed.

9. Who is smarter?
I have more book smarts but Joe has more street smarts. He also has what he calls a wealth of useless knowledge.

10. Whose temper is worse?
Hard to say. I get angry a lot more often but I think when Joe gets upset it lasts longer.

11. Who does the laundry?
Me mostly. Although once I get it started Joe will often move the clothes from the washing machine to the dryer and also fold dried clothes.

12. Who takes out the garbage?
Joe

13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
I do.

14. Who pays the bills?
I do, but Joe handles our investments.

15. Who is better with the computer?
Joe is.

16. Who mows the lawn?
Neither of us. The townhouse association does it.

17. Who cooks dinner?
I usually do.

18. Who drives when you are together?
Definitely Joe. I almost never drive when we’re together because I’m lazy.

19. Who pays when you go out?
Since we’re married it doesn’t matter since it all comes from the same place.

20. Who is most stubborn?
I am.

21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong?
I think we’re even on this. We don’t fight a lot so it’s hard to think of a specific instance to see who gives in first.

22. Whose parents do you see the most?
It used to be Joe’s parents but since they moved to Arizona it’s now my parents.

23. Who kissed who first?
He kissed me.

24. Who asked who out?
I’d say Joe asked me out but at the time it was just a friends thing. It didn’t develop into something more for about two weeks.

25. Who proposed?
Joe proposed on a beach in Michigan. He was so nervous it was cute.

26. Who is more sensitive?
I guess it depends on the situation.

27. Who has more friends?
Neither one of us has any friends we really hang out with so that’s a tough one. Won’t you be my friend?

28. Who has more siblings?
We both have two each.

29. Who wears the pants in the family?
He will definitely say I do because he spoils me.
