Friday on Thursday & New Music

Thank goodness tomorrow is my last day of work until after Christmas. Yea, unlike many of you lucky ducks, I don’t have the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to thoroughly enjoy the four days I do have away from work. The way things have been going lately it is so desperately needed. Tomorrow night I will kick back on the couch and watch back to back DVR’d episodes of one of my favorite new shows, My Boys, while hubby plays Socom with his buddies. I may put the presents under the tree if I’m feeling especially ambitious.

You have to check out these bands I recently discovered:

Pelican – A Chicago heavy metal instrumental band from what I’ve heard thus far. To be honest, I’m going by the clips I’ve heard at CD Universe as I haven’t bought an album just yet. I do have plans to, however. Something about their style reminds me of The Cure’s Carnage Visors which I listened to twice in a row the other day.

Panic! At The Disco – They have the longest song titles I’ve ever seen! Their music is super catchy and after a cursory listen to Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, not a bad track on the entire album. That’s a hard feat to achieve which is why I still listen to New Order, Depeche Mode and The Cure more often than anything else.

There is nothing worse than having to skip over undesirable tracks. Which reminds me: check out Alkaline Trio but stay away from Orbital’s Altogether album. The suckiest suck they’ve ever released. HORRIBLE. Two discs and one halfway decent song that plays ad nauseam on XM’s The System. And they used to be so good! Man. :p
