911 Emergency

I forgot to mention that about an hour away from St. Louis on our way home Sunday morning, an ambulance got on the highway. The lights were flashing, but there were no sirens on. We took advantage of that opportunity and followed it (not too closely, of course) for about an hour until it got off in St. Louis. We made such good time because everyone (with the exception of a handleful of people) cleared the way as soon as they saw the ambulance approaching. It was rather funny, as we both needed to pee pretty bad, but didn’t want to give up such a perfect opportunity. As soon as the ambulance got off the highway, we got off at the next exit to get some “relief”. Heehee.

I can’t help but wonder what the emergency was, though. If it was life threatening, I’d imagine they would have used a helicopter. But it had to be somewhat pressing as they were going approximately 85 mph the entire one hour drive into St. Louis and would turn on the sirens whenever someone wouldn’t move over fast enough.

Things that make you go hmmmm.
