We bought a small HEPA-Type air purifier (Holmes HAP412GB) at Target two weeks ago and so far it seems to be working well. We put it in our bedroom and I dusted all the furniture to see how long it would take before I would need to dust again. Only just yesterday did any visible dust start to appear. Usually everything gets dustier much quicker, so I like that. Plus I feel less stuffy when I wake up. The manual recommends running the purifier 24/7 but we only have it on when we’re at home. We also keep the bedroom door closed.
Things I like about the purifier:
» The unit is not a monstrosity.
» At night the sound of the fan on medium provides the perfect background noise for sleeping.
» It has an ionizer which basically makes particles stick together so that they become larger in order to get captured by the filter.
» The filters are a reasonable price – $28 for two (and the unit only uses one) and last 3-6 months.
We’re going to buy a second one for E’s room.
