I’ve got to hand it to Hellman’s – they take customer complaints seriously. A couple of months ago I called their customer service line about a jar of mayonnaise I had bought that didn’t taste right. I fully admitted to the customer service rep that it had since expired, but it was weird when I first opened it which was well before the expiration date, and I had kept it in the fridge intending to phone them since that was the second time in a year that it had happened. The first time I just threw it out, but mayonnaise isn’t cheap at $3+ a jar so I thought they should know about it. Plus it tasted like Miracle Whip which is evil stuff. The woman apologized for the inconvenience and said she’d send out coupons which arrived about a month ago. Included were two coupons for free jars of mayonnaise (up to a $5 value) plus discounts on other products. The best part is they don’t expire until the end of February next year which gives us plenty of time to use them. It pays to complain!
