The Cure is driving me insane.

First they announced a new album, which for some reason has less tracks on it than both the Japan and U.K. versions. Apparently this is a record company decision; one which to me must stem from greed. What the hell, the stupid Americans will buy the album and the singles to get all the songs, but the Japanese won’t so we’ll just give them everything on one disc.

Oh and on a side note, don’t even get me started on the rip-off that is Tower Records. Somehow they think by including come crappy-ass Cure buttons, they can justify charging $5 more for their album than other stores like CdUniverse. Well I have news for them – I ordered my deluxe copy of the album from cduniverse because it’s about the music, not some buttons!

So anyway, I found out that instead of a regular tour to promote the new album, The Cure is doing some festival with these other bands I’ve never heard of, nor am really interested in hearing. The thing is, I’ve been spoiled by the fact that The Cure tours alone. They typically don’t even have an opening act! And now I’m expected to share my Cure time with other bands?

Today I tried to win tickets to their concert, and of course I couldn’t even get through to the radio station. Busy signals abound. I had to listen to WXRT for a total of two hours today for nothing, while trying to get work done before my vacation and I can’t even win tickets? Yes, I’m bitter. I never try to win anything, so therefore I should win, dammit.

I ended up buying tickets through a pre-sale, which at least allowed me to pick what section I wanted to sit in. Of course, I paid $133.70 for two tickets, over $30 of that just in fees alone, to sit in the back of the stadium because I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay $165 to sit in the middle; and the only cheaper tickets were lawn seats which aren’t covered in case it rains. And since Tweeter Center doesn’t allow umbrellas in their stadium, much less anything else, I didn’t like the idea of possibly getting soaked.

So what is wrong with this picture? My beloved band is robbing me blind, people! And their new song isn’t all that good, although it is starting to grow on me, kinda like fungi.

I’m telling you, this concert better be worth it.
