A month already

Today marks one month since we got the keys to our place. Things have definitely come along nicely. In case you haven’t looked lately, I have added before and after photos to my photo site.

Joe ripped up the carpeting in the loft today as Home Depot will be here on Saturday to install the new stuff. It’s very exciting! Once that is done, he will put the flooring in the dining room.

By the time January rolls around, we’ll be ready for a housewarming. I know you don’t have to wait until all the changes have been made, but I want to, plus with the holidays coming up, I don’t want to compete with all the other festivities.

Master Bedroom

Here’s a couple of photos I took of our master bedroom this evening. I tried my best to manipulate the color in Photoshop so it came out as accurately as possible. Seeing as how we don’t see the light of day in our home during the week, I won’t be able to get some photos in natural light until the weekend. We still have to put something on the walls to fill the empty space too. And unfortunately, the elliptical machine has to go in the room on the side of the bed that doesn’t have the nightstand. I’d rather not have it in there, but there’s just not enough room to put it elsewhere. One of these days when we have a bigger house we’ll have a dedicated exercise room. Nonetheless, I just love how this room turned out. Joe did such a great job! I feel like it’s so much nicer than any other bedroom I’ve ever had. I was initially worried about using too much color, but it couldn’t have come out better. A perfect place to relax and spend quality time with my future hubby. :)

A cozy place

20041106-peekaboo_t.jpg Peek-a-boo! This was taken in the mirror of our new dresser that was delivered on Thursday along with the rest of the bedroom furniture we had ordered last month. Yes, there is a ladder in our bedroom. Joe is painting the walls a lovely color which is a secret (for you, not me). I’m really digging it. I can’t wait until it’s done and we can situate said furniture and be done with the bedroom. Well, at least until next Spring when we plan on putting laminate hardwood in.

Here’s two more random photos taken around the house. I really miss our photo adventures and look forward to Spring and exploring this new neighborhood.

As you can see, we still need to add mouldings to the walls in the kids’ rooms. We also need to get a desk in the boy’s room, which is why the chair is just sitting there. Oh, and the reason their beds are bare is that we’re going to let them pick out their bedding when they see the place for the first time next weekend. I can’t wait to see their reaction!

Once we finish our bedroom, the dining room, and the living room, I’ll post photos of those as well. Don’t expect that until sometime next month.

Progress Report

It’s only 8:40 and I’m exhausted. My feet are killing me, as are many muscles. Poor Joe is in even worse shape. But it’s worth it, as we got so much accomplished today. The kids’ rooms are completely done. They have beds, their toys, and the girl even has a computer desk we bought her yesterday. The boy will be getting Joe’s once we move it from the apartment.

We woke up to rain this morning so we did some shopping instead of moving more stuff. We’ll be doing that tomorrow instead. We had found some awesome kitchen furniture at the Super Target by our place, but it was out of stock, so we drove to another one and there was one left of the main piece that I wanted. I will take pictures tomorrow because I just love how it looks!

We also ordered our flooring for the dining room and bought some lamps. Our place is really coming along now, although you should see our Discover card account. It is scary! We’ve spent so much money in the last couple of weeks, but I’d rather do a lot of the changes now instead of dragging it out. We haven’t started painting our bedroom yet, because we ran out of time, so we’ll get to that in the next month or so.

I think by tomorrow we should have the majority of our boxes unpacked and everything in its place. I can’t wait!
