What day is it again?

Yesterday I woke up retarded. I managed to get hot cheese from a breakfast burrito on my shirt just as I got to work, as well as spill water all over my pants.

Today I woke up forgetful and managed to wash two receipts and a shopping list when I left them in my jeans’ pocket.

But at least we got a ton of stuff accomplished! Between yesterday and today, we ….

  • Moved a bunch of stuff over to the new place including the couch and bookcase
  • Finished painting the kids’ rooms
  • Completely decorated the kids’ bathroom with duckies, including a ducky toilet seat, rug, and border around the walls (picture to follow by Sunday).
  • Shampooed the carpeting in the kids’ rooms
  • Decorated our bathroom and organized our toiletries
  • Washed the doors and frames around the bathrooms and our bedroom
  • Spent a ton of money buying bed frames for the kids, lamps for their rooms, the carpet steamer, and a bunch of other necessities

We also met one of our neighbors today. She seemed friendly. Maybe a bit too friendly. I’m a nice person, but I don’t necessarily want to be best friends with my neighbors. A nice hello when we see each other in passing will suffice.

Anyway, I am exhausted. I was up way too late last night (1 am) chatting online and didn’t sleep as well as I would have liked. For some reason, it felt like the bed was tilted a bit, which threw off my balance. I am fairly certain all the bathrooms in this place, most notably our master bath, is not level. I’m driving Joe crazy talking about it, but it’s really odd, and not something I ever would have thought to check into before buying a place. Good thing we’re only here for five years. It’s probably just my hyper-sensitivity, but I am very aware of when things are crooked, and I used a level to confirm my fears. Oh well, what can you do? Only part of the bathroom feels that way, so it’s tolerable. I’m a weirdo, aren’t I?

Goodbye … for a day

This will be my final entry from the apartment. I am taking apart my computer as soon as I visit some of my daily reads.

So with that, I leave you with a little photographic preview of our new place.

The boy’s bedroom – I really love that shade of blue! We need to put in white moldings around the floor this weekend, but otherwise his room is done (once we put furniture in there).

The kids’ bathroom – I still need to replace the toilet seat and add a yellow rug, not to mention remove the ugly floral border at the ceiling, but I’m liking the whole duckie theme. It’s so cute I’m almost jealous.

“See” you all tomorrow, where I’ll be writing from a whole new zip code. :)

Day #5

Joe finished the boy’s room today and it looks so good. The blue we picked out for the walls is gorgeous. I think he’ll really like it. I also cleaned and set up the kids’ bathroom. We went with a rubber ducky theme which I think they will like. There’s this ugly floral pattern around the top edge of their bathroom wall, so we’ll have to get that down at some point, but there’s too many more important things to finish. Joe is trying to get all the painting in the bedrooms done so we can steam clean the carpeting. Most of the major stuff needs to get done by Sunday since Joe goes back to work Monday.

We ate at home for the first time in awhile this evening. It’s been fast food since Friday because it’s too time consuming to cook. I decided to make tortellini soup, except once I had the onions cooking, I realized we didn’t bring the can opener over yet; Joe had to run to the Walgreens down the street to get one. I swear, I will be so happy once all our stuff is in one place. Most of the little stuff in our apartment has made it to the new place, except some kitchen stuff which is going over tomorrow. We plan to spend our first night at the new place on Thursday and then move all the major furniture (desks, couch, bookshelf and entertainment center) on Friday. We still need to buy bed frames for the kids and the steam cleaner, so I’m guessing it’s gonna be a very busy weekend. We’re not going to have time to put the pergo flooring in the dining room for a couple of weeks.

Day #4

Don’t worry, at some point I’ll get tired of updating every day. I like keeping track of our accomplishments, though.

Joe painted the kitchen alcove and pantry while I was at work. Our cable was connected as well. I was able to stock the pantry when I got home which was fun. I also added some items to our kitchen cabinets and linen closet. Things are coming together slowly. I keep meaning to take photos but forget. Maybe I’ll just wait until it’s all done.

It really sucks having to work all day because I’m already tired by the time I get over there. I am taking a half hour lunch the next three days so I can leave a half hour earlier. It’s not a lot, but it will help. Thank god I’m off on Friday!

Day #3

Another busy day! We primered the inside of the pantry and I finished cleaning all the shelving, so after we paint it, I’ll be able to put the shelves back. I also cleaned the outside of the washing machine and dryer and our master bath. It’s interesting how clean things appear until you take a closer look. And nothing grosses me out more than coming across someone else’s hair, esp. when you’re not sure what part of their body it came from. *Retch* Thank god for the new vacuum cleaner and its super sucking power. Woo!
