Meme Tag

Yay, Ms. Boombastic tagged me for a meme! :)

Four jobs you have had in your life:

1. Cashier / Food prep / etc. for Burger King. This was my first job when I was still in high school. I worked there for a total of three years before getting fed up with one of the supervisors one day and quitting on the spot. We had some fun, but trust me when I say that those people do not respect your food. Not so much that they spit in it or anything, but they let the burgers sit in the steamer a long time and chances are your Whopper is over a half hour old by the time you get it.

2. Apprentice Artist at Gallery 37 in Chicago. It sounds cooler than it was because we worked outside in the summer and it got so hot! But I guess it wasn’t bad getting paid minimum wage to draw and create artwork five hours a day. We had a field trip to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the Chicago theatre one day which was cool.

3. Telemarketer. I did this far longer than I would have liked, but it got me the phone experience I needed to work in Customer Service for the cable company and then later move up within the company.

4. Billing Analyst. I’ve been doing this in one respect or another for years. Before my current position, I was doing more Accounts Payable sort of things. Now I create invoices and boy does it suck more than I thought it would, but it pays pretty damn well considering my lack of degree, so I can’t complain (well too much anyway).

Four movies you could watch over and over:
1. The Wedding Singer
2. A Night At The Roxbury
3. Monsters Inc.
4. Happy Gilmore

Four places you’ve lived:

1. Chicago, Illinois
2. Palos Hills, Illinois
3. Elk Grove Village, Illinois
4. Glendale Heights, Illinois

Yes, I’ve been stuck here in Illinois all my life. Don’t think I haven’t noticed.

Four TV shows you love to watch:
1. Scrubs
2. The Office
3. King of Queens
4. My Name Is Earl

Places you’ve been on vacation:
1. Orlando, Florida (4 times)
2. England (once)
3. Mesa and Phoenix, Arizona (twice)
4. San Diego, California (once)

Four of your favorite foods:
1. Broccoli and cheese stuffed chicken with rice (from Market Day)
2. Cheeseburgers
3. Edys Grand Espresso Chip ice cream
4. Dark chocolate

Four places you’d rather be right now:
(Pretty happy right now, but assuming I wasn’t at home with Joe)

1. Sea World in Orlando Florida
2. Colorado (well technically not til it’s warmer)
3. Arizona
4. San Francisco, California

Four sites I visit daily:
1. Cute Overload
2. This is Broken
3. Flickr
4. At least 10 blogs (my “must reads”)

And I’m tagging…
1. Paul
2. Jenniy
3. Grumpy Bunny

Um … that’s it. Everyone else I read doesn’t necessarily read my site or participate in these things and two that do already did this thing. :)

Puke and squeaks

Today was a lazy Saturday. Joe’s son isn’t feeling well, so he spent most of the day in bed. He also vomited (a lot considering he hadn’t eaten all day) later in the day. Poor kid. I do not do well with puke at all. Thank god I have a husband who takes care of all that stuff.

I’m unhappy to report that my wireless keyboard and mouse will be going back to the store tomorrow. For the second time, no less. The left mouse button has this awful rusty squeak sound that is driving me nuts. I exchanged it once already, but apparently it’s an unpleasant feature of a Logitech product, as evidenced by reviews of their other wireless mice that I found online. It has something to do with how the battery in the mouse pushes against a metal coil inside. If you take the battery out, the squeak goes away, but seeing as how the mouse no longer works, it rather defeats the purpose. Rather than “learning to live it” as was suggested by Joe, I’m going to return it and look at another manufacturer. Surely this can’t be an issue with all wireless mice.

Stand Up

Dane Cook will be shooting an HBO Stand-Up special in Boston in April and I wish I could go, but we’re not planning on any large trips for the next year or two so we we can get back on schedule saving money. We are planning on a small road trip to Pittsburgh in May or June, though. So far on the agenda is the Pittsburgh Zoo, Phipps Botanic Gardens, and Kennywood Amusement Park. Any other suggestions?

Oh and how cool is it that I left Nick Swardson a little message via his website regarding his performance in Grandma’s Boy and he wrote me back twice? That guy is funny, especially in that movie. I hope he does a stand-up tour soon. Other than The Kids In The Hall and one evening at the Improv Olympic, I haven’t been to many live comedy events.

Gimmee some of that!

Thanks to a two hour conference call that should have only been a half hour, I didn’t get to take a lunch today and I am starving! But Joe is on his way home with orange chicken from Panda Express, so all is right with the world. Plus My Name Is Earl and The Office are on tonight. So a horrible day will still end nicely, and at this point, that’s about as much as I can ask for lest I piss off whomever has dealt me my current fate and they decide to test my perseverance even more.

My birthday

We celebrated my birthday today instead of yesterday because I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t crawl out of bed until 2 pm. Aside from sending Joe out to get me food, TWICE, I did nothing but watch tv. It comes as no surprise since something always goes wrong on my milestone birthdays. For my 18th birthday, I got chicken pox, and on my 21st birthday I had a party that only one person showed up to (because the other people whom I called my friends didn’t feel like driving out to where I lived). I can’t wait to see what my 40th brings! NOT!

Nothing terribly exciting to report, although I melted when I came home on Friday and found that Joe had decorated the area around my desk. Today we went to see Grandma’s Boy which wasn’t bad. Not as funny as I was expecting, but still good. We had an AMC ticket package I ordered with our Discover cash back (god how I love that cash back) which gave us two free tickets, two free small popcorns, and a free small drink. For $1 we upgraded to a large drink and we were set. Before the movie we had a light lunch at California Pizza kitchen. Just a nice laid back day. I kept to my self-imposed rule and didn’t once check my work e-mail from home. I’ve been stressing out too much over work stuff lately and I refuse to let it ruin my birthday weekend.

We did a little straightening up when we got home. Joe vacuumed while I reorganized my desk area and the linen closet. Now I’m ready to veg the rest of the evening and eat some brownie cheesecake we picked up from Target to substitute for birthday cake.
