The original plan was to see it the night of its release but I was having “women issues” and decided to forgo that option. Then we were going to see it Saturday morning, but I still wasn’t feeling so hot, so we slated it for Sunday morning. Later that Saturday, however, we were bored and headed over to the AMC. The theatre wasn’t packed by any means, but there was a group you could tell were big fans as they laughed long and hard at everything.

Personally, while I did enjoy the film, I was disappointed. It was missing … something. I keep thinking about it but I still can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it was because there was less dialog with other characters, or Affleck’s cameo was pointless. I just didn’t get the same rush as when Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back came out, or the desire to see the movie again while it’s still in the theatre.

That being said, I have a feeling that once I see the movie again I will like it more. Especially after watching a special about the movie and laughing more than I did when I first saw certain scenes. That’s exactly what happened to A Night At The Roxbury too. The first time I saw it I didn’t think much of the movie, but every time I saw it again I liked it even more and now it’s in my top ten favorite movies of all time.

Getting back to Clerks II … I liked the new character, Elias, played by Trevor Fehrman. His mannerisms reminded me of Brittany Murphy’s character in Clueless and I hope to see him in more films. Jason Mewes, as always, was hilarious, and how could you not like Randal? He’s my fictional character soul mate. I was never a huge Dante fan, but he stayed true to the character … and I also have a new found respect for Rosario Dawson. Oh and Wanda Sykes is always a nice treat. I think it’s her voice alone that makes me laugh.

Despite the fact that it couldn’t top Jay and Bob as my favorite Kevin Smith film, I look forward to its release on DVD so I can add it to my collection.

Everyone knows how much I’ve been anticipating Clerks II.
