A couple of nights ago I came across the E! True Hollywood Story<\/em> of Soleil Moon Frye<\/a>, better known as Punky Brewster<\/em><\/a>. I was amazed to learn how much she’s done in addition to that show, including directing a movie at age 19. When I was a kid Punky Brewster<\/em> was one of my favorite shows. I wanted to be her so bad; I even dressed up like her one year for Halloween. I know it’s now available on DVD, but I bet if I watched it I’d be rolling my eyes the whole time at how wholesome (i.e. cheesy) it was. It’s like those Benji<\/em> films I enjoyed as a kid. It’s just not the same when you become an adult. Which makes me wonder how foolish the kids will feel later on about their Pokemon obsession.<\/p>\n

Speaking of sitcoms, did anyone watch 8 Simple Rules<\/em><\/a> when it first aired? I really liked it, but when John Ritter died at the beginning of Season 2, I just couldn’t watch it anymore, and strongly believed it should be cancelled<\/a>. Instead it went on for a third season before it was taken off the air. I’m glad it did too because I recently came across it in syndication on WGN and begin DVRing it. They brought in James Garner to play the grandfather and David Spade to play C.J., the kids’ cousin. I’ve never been that fond of David Spade but he’s hilarious in this show! I may have not been in a place to watch the show before, but I’m glad they didn’t cancel it after all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
