You might recall our unsuccessful attempt to visit this area almost a month ago. Unfortunately, I think we went too late in the season as the only birds we spotted were seagulls. It was also extremely gloomy with some snow flurries which weren’t originally part of today’s forecast. :p

But anyway … check out my photos. Joe got some great photos as well but he doesn’t put his online. I really like his eye for composition. Whenever we sit down after a photo shoot and compare photos, I’m always impressed with many of his shots. He’ll get a particular perspective and it irks me that I didn’t think of it.

I’m itching to upgrade my current camera to a Canon EOS 10D. I WILL own this camera in the future, it’s just a matter of time. Honestly, I’ve looked at countless photos from many digital cameras, digital SLRs in particular, and the Canon ones are consistently more appealing to me. Their look is superior to that of Nikon in my opinion, and I feel like I’m missing out. So yes, I’m going to ditch Nikon for Canon. I used to feel loyal to Nikon, but two things changed my mind – 1) Nikon sending back my supposedly repaired 885 with no change (i.e. they didn’t do anything) and 2) Canon makes a superior product. Although I am rather shocked that Canon still doesn’t offer Spot Metering whereas Nikon does on all their digi cams, even the low-end models.

In any case, the 10D is less than $500 more than what I paid for the 5700, although I’d still need to pick up a lens, but it would be so worth it. Plus my 5700 would be handed down to Joe, which would be cool because I really hate how the 885 renders reds and blues in photos. Joe needs a better camera to show off what he can really do.

We headed out early this morning to Montrose Point in Chicago.
