Bonzai the Betta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Betta, Bonzai, passed away yesterday. <a href=\"http:\/\/nicole.sleepyfroggie.net\/blog\/?p=2613\">We got him in May 2009<\/a> so he lived a good long life of 2.5 years. He had been looking unwell for a long time so I hope he&#8217;s at peace now. As I tried to figure out how to properly dispose of him I learned that it&#8217;s illegal to flush fish down the toilet, so he went in the garbage instead. Seems rather undignified no matter how you handle it, but what can you do, hold a burial or have him cremated?<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re keeping count we&#8217;re now down to two mice and a toad as far as pets are concerned. Once the mice pass away, and if work ever lets up so I&#8217;m back to a consistent 40-hour week, I&#8217;d like to start fostering kittens for a local rescue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Betta, Bonzai, passed away yesterday.
