She asked me whether I had worn my contacts since I last saw her and I said no way, she told me not to. She laughed and remarked “if only all my patients listened”. I told her I was still having what I now know is called referred pain (my eyelid hurts but it feels more like the eye itself and the back of the eye) and she said the ointment I’ve been prescribed could cause some irritation but to keep using it as prescribed and by the time I’m done it should feel better. If it still hurts a week from now, I can come back to see her.

She also instructed me to use a new pair of lenses once I’m done with treatment (already threw out that other pair), and gave me a sample of what she wants me to use to disinfect my lenses moving forward.

Talk about old school! My ex used to use this stuff for his hard lenses. I didn’t even realize they made them for soft lenses. It’s expensive too. Even more so than the Opti-Free and BioTrue solutions I was using. Figures. But I guess that’s the price one pays for healthy eyes. And after going through all this I don’t want to mess with that because I was having vision problems in that eye from all the irritation which is the worst. Everything I do requires clear vision – working on the computer, reading, watching tv, etc. So if it will cost me a little more to avoid having eye issues, so be it.

I had my follow-up eye appointment this morning and I’ve gotta say, I love this doctor I’ve been seeing.
