I went for some lovely allergy testing this afternoon where I was poked with many needles, and the results are that I am allergic to two trees (maple and oak), one grass (bahia – wth is that?), 8 different molds, and housedust mites. The mites are what freaks me out. Did you know that the average number of mites in a bed is 2,000,000? That’s just disgusting. And you can’t see mites as they are microscopic, but 84% of homes have detectable levels of dust mite allergens in their bed(s). So I guess I’m supposed to start washing my bedding more often.<\/p>\n
I also was given a prescription for Singulair and Allegra. Just add those to the two maintenance drugs I already take that I wish I didn’t have to. I feel chronic. I really hate to see how many medications I’m on when I’m old. Yeesh!<\/p>\n
The interesting thing was that I wasn’t allergic to any animals. I could have sworn I had allergies to dogs, and some cats, but the tests didn’t pick that up. So there is hope that one day, when Joe’s kids are older, I will be a pet owner. Although considering what a control freak I am and how clean I try to keep my house, it’s doubtful.
