Sunday Brunch – Dining Out

1) Do you enjoy eating out and why? Yes, because I can try something I’d never bother to attempt cooking myself and I don’t have to clean up.

2) Where is your favorite restaurant? I don’t know if I really have a favorite restaurant, but if I had to pick one, I choose California Pizza Kitchen because I love their BBQ Chicken Salad.

3) What are your standards for tipping? 15% for standard service and more if the service is exceptional, less if it’s poor.

4) Do you have one entree, appetizer or dessert that you specifically go out to get at a restaurant from time to time? Yes, if I have a taste for hot wings, I go to Hooters.

5) Describe a horrific experience that you had while dining out. I can’t think of anything horrific, but the most annoying experience was when we went to Red Lobster and they gave me coleslaw for my fish instead of tartar sauce and denied it was coleslaw even though I knew it wasn’t tartar sauce. Since I rarely have fish and when I do, must have tartar sauce, it ruined that experience for me. That being said, Reb Lobster still has superb service 99.9% of the time.

Time flies when you’re working

I can’t believe it’s been over a month since our unplanned trip to Arizona. I’ve been spending far too much time at work since we returned, making up time. I can’t complain, though; they could have forced me to use up all my remaining vacation time and take time unpaid.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to fill out this older Sunday Brunch since it’s related to travel:

The 50 States

“In a country as big as the United States, you can find fifty examples of anything.” -Jeffery F. Chamberlain

1) What state were you born in? Illinois.

2) What state do you currently live in? Illinois. Exciting, I know.

3) How many states have you been in? (and yes, driving through counts!) 12 if I counted correctly.

4) If you had your choice regardless of cost, which of the 50 states would you choose to live in? I’m not sure if I could pick having not visited most of the states, but the first one that comes to mind is Colorado.

5) Which of the 50 states would you rather die than live in? Oklahoma. Although that sounds like I’d rather die in Oklahoma but I wouldn’t even want to die there.

Sunday Brunch – Your Kitchen

Your Kitchen
“If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” -Harry Vaughan

1) What is your favorite kitchen appliance? The toaster oven.

2) What kind of cookware do you have? Non-stick.

3) What color are your countertops and cabinets? Ugly white formica counters which need replacing and light wood cabinets.

4) Name one kitchen appliance or gadget that you wish you had. Blender.

5) Describe your dream kitchen. Slate floor in a beige marble pattern, granite counter-tops (either something in an earthy tone or black with white flecks), maple cabinets, and little tiles on the backsplash in shades of brown (or green, as long as everything matched).

I tried taking a series of shots of my kitchen as it looks now, but my panorama software keeps crashing my machine. :p

Sunday Brunch on Saturday

I’m bored. I actually worked out today for a half hour. That’s about all the tolerance I have right now. I swear, if I don’t lose these last 15-20 lbs. before the wedding, I am a total loser. Remember I lost 40 lbs. in less time. The problem is food. I love it. In fact, here’s last week’s Sunday Brunch:

1) Do you take your lunch hour at work? Hell yes. We don’t get paid for it, so I’m certainly not giving it to the company.

2) What is your favorite place to eat lunch at? Home. :) Oh you mean when I’m working? I don’t really have a favorite place to eat, I just make do. Both break rooms stink for their own distinct reasons. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m developing lung cancer from the non-smoking portion of the break room that smells suspiciously like smoke.

3) What do you usually eat for lunch? Sandwich, soup, or tv dinner.

4) Do you have anyone that you eat lunch with on a regular basis? Nope. There’s no one at work I particularly want to make conversation with for an hour every day when I could be reading my book instead. Call me anti-social, I can take it.

5) If not eating, what do you usually do on your lunch hour? Go shopping. I don’t really like shopping alone, though, (because I’m co-dependent) so it doesn’t happen often.

Sunday Brunch Catch-up

I’ve been lax with the Sunday Brunch again!

1) How do you cook your turkey? (Stuffing, spices, cooking bag, etcetera) Never cooked one before, so I’m going to say plain in a pan. :)

2) What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Don’t have one.

3) What are you doing this year for Thanksgiving? Went to my mom’s, cooking our own dinner today.

4) Do you have any family traditions at Thanksgiving? Not really, besides eating.

5) What one dish does it just not feel like Thanksgiving without besides turkey? Cranberry sauce and stuffing.
