New Stuff

Care Bears Today was a good day because I got new stuff. And who doesn’t like new stuff? Target had Care Bears on sale, which I had to have. I’m up to seven bears now and I plan on collecting them all.

I also picked up a few new shirts for the upcoming warmer weather. I really liked what I saw in the mirror in the dressing room. I can see my hard work is paying off. It’s nice to feel relatively thin again.

When we were at my parents’ house yesterday, we decided my brother needed a new mouse cause his just sucks and my mom was having a hard enough time getting used to using one. So we looked online and saw that Office Depot had a Microsoft optical mouse on sale. We checked the actual store, and much to our delight, it was only $10 there, which saved us the shipping charges. I decided to upgrade my mouse as well, so we bought two. I really like how smoother and precise the scrolling is, plus it has a scroll wheel, which my 90’s mouse did not have.

Has your neighborhood Office Depot been redesigned? We hadn’t been to ours for at least a month and was shocked to see how they rearranged everything. It’s got the look of a Circuit City now. They removed the high shelving and the whole store looks much more inviting. We enjoyed just browsing the store. The LCD monitors had me drooling – I really need to get one of those!

In all, it was a nice day. We were able to get a nice walk around the neighborhood in before it started storming. As much as I love thunderstorms, I really hope it doesn’t rain all summer like it seemed to last year.

Sunday Brunch

Today’s Sunday Brunch:

1. Are you organized or disorganized? I’m definitely organized. Clutter and disorganization make me anxious. Things need to be easy to find and stored in there proper places.

2. How well can you swim? Pretty good, I think. I enjoy swimming.

3. How often do you fill your gas tank? Approximately once a week or so.

4. Where is your favorite vacation spot? Hmmm … I don’t really have one in particular. When I was younger, it was Indiana Beach, but I’ve grown out of it.

5. What is you favorite animal to have as a pet? I’d love to have a cat or ferret, but with Joe’s son’s allergies, that won’t happen until he’s older and not staying with us every other weekend.

Ice cream internet

Out of the blue last week, my mom called me and asked if I would teach her how to use the internet. This coming from the woman who doesn’t understand, nor like, computers. But hey, I’m flexible.

So after stopping by the zoo today to catch a glimpse of the new baby polar bear (he wasn’t around, darn!), we went to my parents’ house to create a login for my mom on my brother’s computer. I also set up a Yahoo! account for her, so now I can send my mom email. Fun!

My mom can be really sweet, too. Last time we were visiting, I was bitching and moaning how I’ve always wanted an ice cream cake for my birthday but have never gotten one. So guess what my mom had for dessert today? You guessed it – ice cream cake. Woo hoo! I’m not ashamed to admit that I ate two slices.

We had a good time visiting today. We always do; we have fun when we get together. That’s cause we’re all dysfunctional and vulgar. :)

If we lived closer, we’d probably visit more often. Then I could at least harass my brother more and get him to learn how to play Cure songs on his guitar. Maybe I’ll get a guitar and learn them myself. I’ve been thinking about it for awhile.

Let them eat cake

I made a lemon cake. I’m about to frost it and stuff my face. It’s all good, my calorie count is low and I worked out.

In about two weeks we’re going to Saint Louis and I cannot wait. I so need a little getaway. I haven’t had a day off since January and I’m going nuts. I feel like that guy in Office Space, which I watched last night. Good movie.

The one plus side to my job is that I can get in touch with people who know people at hotels. So we got a great rate for our hotel in St. Louis. Instead of the regular $95 rate, we got it for $49. Sweet! I hope it’s as nice as it looked on the website.

I plan on trying to get us hooked up for our trip to New England in June. As it stands now we’re making stops in Boston, Cape Cod, Portland, Bar Harbor, and Niagara Falls. Yea, it’s turning out to be a bit more detailed (not to mention expensive) than we originally planned. But what the hell. When will we be heading to the east coast again? Not for a few years at the very least. Might as well make the most of it.

Monday Madness

Here’s a new meme I found on another site that looked interesting (at least this week).

Monday Madness:

1. What was your favorite TV show as a child? There were a couple, but the ones that immediately come to mind are Tom and Jerry and Knight Rider.

2. What show did you hate? The Partridge Family. I liked watching the opening sequence with the birds and then I turned it off. I also wasn’t very fond of The Brady Bunch but would watch it if nothing else was on.

3. What show did your family gather around the TV to watch? Gee, I have no idea.

4. What show is currently your favorite? There are only two shows I must see every week, one of which already ended, and the other ends this May – Sex and The City and Friends. So sad. I also look forward to The Newlyweds and South Park.

5. What show do you hate now? As in what show did I once like that I dislike? Well, it’s no longer on the air, but Ally McBeal. Also Felicity and Party of Five really started getting on my nerves too before they were cancelled. I just had to keep watching for some reason, so I was glad when they pulled the plug. As for “new” shows, I don’t like Big Brother, Survivor, The Bachelor or any of those reality shows.
