Wedding planning progress

Well, we’re definitely making headway in the wedding planning department. There are a total of three hotels we’ll be staying at during our trip and I’ve booked two of them.

I also booked our Discovery Cove adventure only to learn that a 7-day pass to SeaWorld is included in the price! We have SeaWorld Busch Gardens combo passes, and after seeing that Busch Gardens is mostly rollercoasters, I don’t even want to go there that much. So we’re going to try and sell the passes on Ebay. I hope we can get what we paid for; that’s all I want. I reserved some Ebay books from the library to get some tips. I’ve only sold something twice on there before; the first time the person sent me a bad check after I had already sent the merchandise (the bank’s fault for saying the check was good when it wasn’t) and the second time no one placed a bid. So obviously I suck at Ebay.

I also contacted an officiant for the Gulf coast area to see about marrying us and asked her for suggestions on photographers and videographers in the area. Personally, I couldn’t care less if there was a video, but I my mom will kill me if she can’t see us getting married. Mothers!

Since our trip is now exactly three months away, we’re starting to get super excited about it. Even more so than when we went to Arizona and California a few years ago. It’s been so long since I’ve been to Disney. I hope it is as magical as I remember it.

Sunday Brunch: Love

Let’s talk about looooove.

1) Are you currently married or involved with a significant other? Give specifics and length of time that you have been with that person. I’ve been with Joe since January 2001 and we’re getting married October 25th this year.

2) Where did you meet your significant other? We used to work together at the cable company. We met April 1999.

3) What is your anniversary or special day of ANY kind and what did you do on that day with your significant other? We started going out on New Years, so we celebrate on that day.

4) What is the nicest thing that a person that you are or have been involved with has done for you? When Joe and I first started dating I was really sick and I was still living with my ex. Joe went to the Walgreens and bought me medicine and brought it over and then went home. I thought that was so sweet because he did all that and we couldn’t even spend any time together.

5) Do you have a special song or movie or place with your significant other? Describe. The Family Man starring Nicholas Cage is a special movie for us since it’s the first movie we saw together. There’s also a particular Mexican restaurant that is important to us because it was where we had our first non-date date.

The Date

I forgot to mention that we set a date for the wedding. Joe didn’t really care what date we chose, but I’m a woman, so choosing a date is actually a science where many calculations are involved.

For instance, I didn’t want us sharing our special day with anyone we know, so any date of significance for our family members or friends was off-limits (don’t even tell me you have something special on the date we chose, or I will kill you, I swear it!). We can’t possibly get married on a day of the month which may have had some importance in any of our past relationships either, you know. That would spell doom for sure! Once you start factoring in all of the “rules”, several months get eliminated altogether (like the month of May as my ex and my parents both got married in that month).

When all was said and done, we ended up with September and October to choose from. Based on weather patterns and crowds in the Orlando area, we decided to take our trip from the end of October through the beginning of November. Since I’m not overtly fond of November, we decided we needed a date in October. Of course, we can’t get married too close to Halloween, and certain days of the week weren’t even considered, particularly Monday as it’s the suckiest day of the week.

So we (and by we, of course I mean me) came up with Tuesday, October 25th. I added a countdown to the sidebar so you can watch us creep closer and closer to the day where we lose our freedom. ;)

V-Day

20050214-001_t.jpg Happy Valentine’s Day! How did your spend yours? Me: working, eating chinese, and spending time with Joe.

I’m really ticked at 1-800-Flowers. Joe ordered a dozen and a half roses in various colors which were delivered to me at work today. Yay for romantic gestures! The only problem was they don’t look so hot. The edges of each rose is brown and they look like they’ve been sitting around for days, instead of being fresh. He tried calling them to complain, and the phone just rang and rang. So tomorrow, time to have some words. It’s not like those flowers are cheap.

Joe, the stylist

At the mall today we ran into one of my old co-workers. She immediately noticed that I had my hair cut and dyed, but was even more surprised that Joe had done the dying. When I mentioned that he also washed my hair this morning in the kitchen sink, due to heart monitor I was wearing that couldn’t get wet, she was really impressed. In fact, everyone who I’ve told about how my hair was dyed was impressed. It was just another of the many reminders I’ve been getting lately regarding what a great man I have. Even my Mom told me that I’m lucky to have Joe. I couldn’t agree more; my Joey is so awesome!

Also, check out the nice cake he bought me for my birthday. Yes, it’s as tasty as it looks too!
