Friday

Well that was an interesting break, even if it didn’t last as long as I said it would! I missed reading blogs a bit, but I noticed time went by slower when I wasn’t online. I think from now on I’m going to read less blogs and spend more time with hobbies and whatnot. I’ll probably still go online every day, but maybe not for hours at a time.

Friday after work we went to Wendy’s for a quick bite to eat before going for a bike ride. We didn’t go nearly as far as last time; I think after work is probably a bad time because we’re tired from working all day. We’ll probably have to go early on a Saturday or Sunday from now on. To make the trip worthwhile, we walked around Herrick Lake for a bit watching the cute chipmunks run around. They are way cuter than squirrels but less trusting of humans.

Afterwards we stopped at Petsmart to look at the animals. I swear I am addicted to that place. I go there far too often even though I have no real reason to be there. If I had the time and space, I’d probably own a ton of animals. I really like the fire-bellied toads and fancy goldfish. I even wouldn’t mind a dog at some point. Cats are a given, of course.

On the way back home we stopped at Portillo’s to get a chocolate shake. I’m really not big on shakes but for some reason I just had a taste for one. You should see how long the drive-thru gets! They have people coming to your car to take your order and collect payment so that by the time you make it to the window they just hand you the food. I could only imagine how hellish the wait would be if they didn’t do that. As it was we waited 10 minutes for our shakes. Not that I cared. It was a beautiful evening and we had nothing pressing to get home to. In fact, I think all we did when we got home was watch a bunch of shows we had DVR’d to make space for all the season premieres this week.

Bored

Bleh. I am all internetted out. I didn’t even log on last night and now I have all these feeds to catch up on, yet I just don’t feel like reading them. I’ve been busy cleaning, cooking, working out, and watching tv. I think I need a break from the online world. Just a few days. I’m looking forward to a fun weekend that doesn’t include being on the computer. See you next week with tales and photos!

Mind reader

I had a really crappy day today, and when I got home from work, all I wanted was an ice cream bar. We ran out over a week ago, though. So I was sitting at my computer, waiting for Joe to get home from work, so I could ask him if we could drive over to Aldi to buy some more.

Imagine my surprise when he walked in the door with two boxes of the exact same ice cream bars I was thinking about! Can that man read my mind or what? He’s the best! Now you know why I married him.

Sunflowers

I bought myself some sunflowers when we were at Target yesterday. They are very beautiful and cheer you up, don’t you think? It’s too bad I’m feeling all icky today; the weather is in the mid 70’s and just gorgeous with beautiful blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Perfect for a trip to the forest preserve to take out our bikes on the trails and snag some cool photos. That was what we planned on doing today, after visiting Ikea for their kickass (from what I’ve heard) $1.99 breakfast. Ugh, it really sucks being a woman, you know. Oh well, maybe next Sunday!

Garage sale Saturday

We took the kids to a bunch of garage sales this morning since their grandmother had included $5 for each of them with the girl’s birthday card. They learned the art of budgeting and getting a deal. The boy ended up with two Pokemon books, some Pokemon cards, and a stuffed penguin. The girl got a trapper keeper type folder, a stuffed koala, and a stuffed dog. They both had about $2 left too. I was showing the boy how the Pokemon books originally cost $12 each and he got them for $1 a piece. What a steal! It was a nice, and cheap, way to spend a few hours and we saw areas of the neighboring towns we hadn’t seen before. We did spend too much by stopping at a local restaurant for lunch, though. We hadn’t tried it before, and while it wasn’t bad, I have no desire to go back there. Oh well, you live and learn. Now I’ve got to finish frosting the “birthday” cupcakes I baked so the girl can open her presents. We are playing a trick on her and wrapped up a huge can of Beef-a-roni since she had told Joe a few weeks ago that she’d be happy with just a can of it for her birthday. Look, you got your wish, LOL! Her real present is a scooter that she’s been asking for, which if I know her as well as I do, will end up in it’s own garage sale years from now in like new condition.
