eBay and the Egret

So we made a stop at the local post office today to send out some mail, including the Sea World Busch Gardens tickets I finally managed to sell on eBay. Even though they went for $152.50, after all the stupid eBay fees, Pay Pal’s cut for the credit card payment, and postage, it was closer to $130. Ugh!

The funny thing is that we wanted to buy a book of stamps and the man helping us looked a bit shocked, yet pleased, when Joe asked for the Egret stamps. As if no one could tell what kind of bird that was! Ok, to be fair, I was the one who told Joe “I want the Egret stamps”; he was going to ask for “the white bird stamps”. Of course, I didn’t realize it was the Snowy Egret. Well la-dee-da, aren’t we a fancy bird?! ;)

I’d be interested to see whether Joe’s son knows what it is. I think I’ll quiz him next time he visits. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets it right. He loves those animals. He watches the Discovery Channel and is a proud owner of the World Almanac for Kids.

Fog

I saw the coolest thing this morning and wish I had had the time to pull out my camera and tripod and capture it to share. I don’t think my words will do it justice, but I will try.

My subdivision is surrounded by a golf course and I could see behind the townhomes across the street that there was a lot of fog on the course. The sun was just rising, so there was this gorgeous orange glow coming around the trees through the fog.

When I got onto the main street that borders the golf course, I could see the huge sun, completely orange, rising behind the trees. The sunlight was streaming around the trees, through the fog, and the fog was also rising off a little pond. The combination of those things gave the scene a heavenly quality that I’m not likely to see again for awhile. It was breathtaking and peaceful.

Weekend Disappointment

Well the weather never cleared up even though it didn’t actually rain very much. The sky was hazy and grey the entire weekend which made me feel blah and unmotivated. We ended up sleeping until almost 11 am this morning and the only thing we did was spend $100 on groceries and toiletries at Target. I’ll never go there on a Sunday afternoon again. It wasn’t as horrible as Walmart on a regular day, but it was close. There were way too many people to navigate around. I am so mad we couldn’t get any photos! Watch how nice it will be the rest of the week. I am willing to bet on it.

I’m okay; no really

I just noticed that my last few entries were of me complaining about something, but actually I’m pretty happy right now. I just like to vent, you know? The weather is great, we have a weekend to ourselves coming up and we’ll probably get some great photographic opportunities, work is busy, but at least the day flies by, and I’m slowly losing weight. So it’s all good.

All clean

I actually feel productive today. After we dropped the kids off at home we did some grocery shopping at Mejier. We also got the girl’s birthday gifts, so we’re done with that. Then we came home and did a thorough cleaning of our place. I hate doing it, but it’s always nice when everything is scrubbed down, dusted, and vacuumed. Now we’re going to hide from the three-digit temperatures and watch movies all day. Between Blockbuster and the new DVR, we have plenty to keep us entertained.
