Ordered pizza from a new place nearby in my never-ending quest to find the perfect pie. It was ok. Better than most, actually, but I’m still not satisfied. Their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are divine, however. I must block out of my mind that I pass this place on my way home from work every day or I’ll be tempted to stop for a pre-dinner snack.

Watched 28 Weeks Later which must be one of the better films I’ve seen this year. I’m not so much for the horror genre but I’d like to see another installment. 28 Months Later, anyone?

Watched three hours of Prison Break that had accumulated on the DVR. I don’t know why I have such a love hate relationship with this show. I procrastinate turning it on, but thoroughly enjoy it once I’m watching it. Of course now it’s on hiatus until at least January.

Went to Target this morning and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t a madhouse. Was able to get the iPod for the girl and some DVDs and a scooter for the boy. The board games that were on sale were completely gone. Good thing I ordered those from Amazon.com yesterday (and they shipped yesterday too which is insanely quick for free super-saver shipping).

Made this crazy delicious sandwich for lunch.

Started some laundry.

I was completely stir crazy from an entire day inside yesterday, but since we got out of the house this morning I hope to not go insane today. I rented License To Wed to watch later. Not because I expect it to be good in any way, but because I need some cute overload (John Krasinski).

Now I’m off to pay bills and reorganize my recipe book.

Joe’s bday

I had such a great day today, you’d think it was my birthday. We slept in, then went to the AMC to see The Bourne Ultimatum. You should see the theatre we were in – it was massive! I don’t think I’ve ever been in a larger movie theatre in all my life. Joe speculated it could seat 1000 people. There were quite a lot of people there for the first showing of the day (10:30 am) too. I was thinking don’t these people have jobs?

I have a love hate relationship with AMC’s concessions. I love their popcorn but I hate their prices. We got a combo for $7.50 and I swear I’ve never seen a smaller sized popcorn or pop in my life. Luckily they have a special you can add a hot dog for $1 if you buy a combo, so Joe got that too. I didn’t eat much really, just a bit of the popcorn and a small bite of the hot dog.

I froze my butt off in the theatre, but it was worth it to look good for my sweetheart. I wore the new top I bought at New York & Co. when we were in Indianapolis. It’s sleeveless, low-cut, and clings to all the right places, which Joe was super happy about. He kept commenting how hot I looked all day! I love that he notices that stuff even after nearly seven years together.

The movie wasn’t the best of the Bourne series, and it raised questions that never really got explained, but I think maybe they are trying to keep it open for yet another movie.

We walked around the Super Target across the street after the movie and I bought some more clothes. I am clothes crazy lately. I don’t know why I’m turning into such a girl now. I think maybe because I really enjoy looking good for Joe. It’s not like he doesn’t pay attention to me otherwise, so I really can’t explain it. I just like buying clothes and jewelry and even makeup. I got some new earrings and pink nail polish today. Pink! Yes, I like that color now. So weird.

After Target we tried a new-to-us place called Al’s Italian Beef. I don’t recommend their beef (go to Portillo’s instead), but their tamale boat is yummy! It’s two tamales covered in cheese, onions, and their bean-less chili.

For dinner we went to Red Lobster. I ordered the Ultimate Feast which comes with crab legs, lobster tail, shrimp scampi, and fried shrimp. I gotta say, I wasn’t feeling the love for the crab legs (too fishy tasting) or the lobster (rather blah without the butter). I don’t get the appeal. And frankly, while I am a meat eater through and through, I felt rather sorry for the lobster I was consuming. The crab legs too. I felt guilty, probably because the way it’s served makes it really hit home you’re consuming something that not long ago was alive. So that was a bit of a downer. Our service was great, however (as always), and the meal was only $40 which was paid for with our last gift card, so that was nice too.

When we got home, well, let’s just say Joey had a very nice birthday. ;) He looked super handsome today too. He was wearing a new shirt in a shade of blue he hasn’t worn before and I just wanted to jump him all day long. I couldn’t stop reflecting on how lucky I am to be with him. In my past relationships I often felt I was too good for the guy I was with, but with Joe sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve such a wonderful husband. He’s just amazing. He is 100% supportive of everything I do and so patient and caring it often blows my mind. I hope he had as wonderful of a day as I did. I love you always, hon! Happy Birthday!

I can’t stand people who talk during the movie

We saw the first showing of I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry today. The movie was ok. Not the funniest Sandler film I’ve seen, but Nick Swardson was in it which is always a plus. I laugh just looking at him; I don’t know what it is but he’s hilarious!

The shitty part was this couple who would not stop talking through the previews and during most of the movie. I almost suggested we leave because they were that loud and ruining the movie for me. We asked them to keep quiet at least three times, yet the man persisted to talk loudly. We were in the middle of the theatre and they were against the wall yet we could hear him well even during the loud parts of the movie. It was really annoying. Then they left twenty minutes before the movie ended. WTF was that all about? Why go to a movie at all if you’re not going to stay to see how it ends? And why talk the entire time? Not only is it rude to everyone else, but how can you enjoy the movie if you’re not paying attention? The only thing I can figure is maybe the guy was translating for the woman (they were foreign). Even so, I would think he could have translated for her without being so loud. Or better yet, wait for the movie to come out on video instead of disturbing everyone else.

We spent our required hour in Target afterwards, then came home and made salmon patties for lunch. They actually came out pretty good although I was a bit creeped out that they leave some bones in there on purpose. I picked most of them out.

Haven’t really done anything else today. I’m really sad our weekend is almost over. It never lasts long enough.

Movie weekend

It’s been a pretty nice weekend. We had lots of fun and the weather has been gorgeous.

We only had The Boy this time because The Girl was at camp. Yesterday we saw the first showing of Surf’s Up which Joe and I really enjoyed. The Boy liked it too, but I think we liked it more thanks to the adult jokes that went over the kiddies’ heads. Afterwards we had lunch at Portillo’s. Since we’re trying to eat better and losing weight (I’m down 8 lbs. since May, Joe is down something like 20 lbs, the jerk), we skipped the fries. We still had the beef sandwich, however for dinner we had grilled chicken breast to even everything out.

After dropping The Boy off this morning we saw Live Free or Die Hard. I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn’t a movie we had originally planned on seeing until we caught the previews a few weeks ago. I love action films and that kid from Dodgeball and the Apple commercials cracks me up.

We stopped at Target this afternoon to pick up our 4th of July supplies. We got two different kinds of hot dog and hamburger buns, hamburger patties, hot dogs, t-bones, and the usual condiments. My mom is supplying the chips and potato salad. We also got the kids those snappers you throw at the ground. I’m really looking forward to Wednesday and the rest of the week. I only have to work two days this week and then I get to have five days of non-stop fun. Joe is off all week so he’s cleaning the house tomorrow so I’m off the hook for that too. It’s going to be a great week, especially if I can wear my new dress…

Last night I was ordering a shirt online at Sears for The Girl when I decided if I was going to pay shipping anyway, I might as well maximize my order. So I also ordered a cute purple and black bra and two pairs of thongs that have the fabric between the toes instead of the hard plastic. I’m hoping those will be comfortable and figured I’d take my chances since the white pair (Sketchers) were marked down to $10.50 from $30 and the other pair, which are brown, only cost $2.50. The second pair were available for pickup at the store so I’ll be getting those tomorrow or Tuesday. I’m hoping they match my new dress since I haven’t been able to find any decent shoes thus far.

Was I the only one who thought Shrek 3 was disappointing? Sure, I might have been a bit distracted by The Girl’s incessant throat-clearing, but I’m not so sure I would have liked the movie anyway. I thought the best part was when it was over. I hope they don’t make any further sequels. It was nice while it lasted, but enough is enough. I didn’t laugh enough which is a bad sign for a comedy. Well, except for the part where the Gingerbread Man poops out a gumdrop. Poop is always funny!

Now Knocked Up, while not quite the laughfest I was expecting, was good, and made up for the blah Shrek. I love Seth Rogen. There’s just something about him that’s endearing. Ever since I saw him in 40 Year Old Virgin I was hoping he’d have a bigger role in a film. I’m thinking we’ll be seeing more of him too. I also like Katherine Heigl. She’s so pretty and just seems nice. I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy, but I saw her in The Ringer and thought she was cute. There were a lot of great actors who showed up in this movie. I particularly liked the scene with Ryan Seacrest. Hilarious! Kristen Wiig was funny too, although it seemed she was playing a character she’s done on SNL before.

Who thinks Mr. Brooks looks interesting? I kind of want to see it, but not, because I hate Kevin Costner. Plus Dane Cook is in it and I just can’t picture him in a serious role. Ever see Simon Sez? Don’t. Not that it was meant to be super serious, but oh my god was it awful. I kept fast-forwarding to the Dane parts and then just laughing at his terrible acting.

After seeing the previews, I really can’t wait to see License to Wed. It looks funny and John Krasinski is such a cutie!
