I wanted to see Anchorman today, but my stomach had other plans. As we were sitting in the parking lot, it started to cramp, so we went home. Don’t worry, I will see you soon, Mr. Ferrell! I can’t believe I’ll have to wait another week, though. :(
This evening we rented The Butterfly Effect. I really enjoyed the movie. It’s odd how the movies I’m least excited about seeing end up being the ones I like the most. Same thing happened with Spiderman 2.
We watched the director’s cut and ejected the dvd. Luckily, since I always look up additional trivia at IMDB after every movie I watch, I found out that the ending was significantly different between that version and the theatrical release. So we popped the dvd back in and watched the other ending. The director’s cut, while quite good in my opinion, was depressing, leaving you with a totally different feeling. The “regular” version was much more satisfactory for people who like happy endings. Is Hollywood really so afraid to leave us feeling anything but warm and fuzzy at the end of a film? I’m going to say I prefer the ending on the director’s cut simply because it was much more unexpected and unique.
