On my mind, in no particular order …

Is it bad that I really want to buy a low-cost 2 or 3 megapixel digital camera to carry around at all times? I’ve lost count how many times I saw something photo-worthy but didn’t have my camera on me. There’s no way I’m keeping a $1200 camera in my purse. I want something under $200 that takes compact flash cards, so I’ve been eyeing the Canon Powershot A300. I really don’t need another camera, though.

In movie news, based on the trailer we saw today, Scary Movie 3 looks pretty damn funny. I don’t recommend the recent Tomb Raider movie, though. The first one wasn’t fabulous, but it was decent. Plus it had a kickass soundtrack. With this one, I found myself hoping it was almost over because neither the music, nor the “action” scenes were enough to keep me interested. In fact, I enjoyed watching Clueless more on dvd when I got home, and that didn’t cost me $12 in tickets.

Joe came up with a great business idea – go to Target, buy a bunch of movie candy, and sell it outside the theater door for $2 a box. It’s still cheaper than what the theatre charges, and you’re making a nice profit since Target charges $1. They also are selling a pack of four boxes of candy for $2.79 which is the price of 1 box at the theater.

I’m reading this book called I Don’t Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson and it’s really good. Funny too. Reminds me a lot of Bridget Jones’ Diary as the main character is British and writes in a similar format as Bridget Jones did, even though it is not a diary. I grabbed it off the library shelf without even skimming the back because I was tired of browsing but wanted something. What a lucky find. In fact, I think I shall go curl up on the couch with it until bedtime.

Weekend in review

Man, we were so busy this weekend, but we had a bunch of fun, so it’s good.

Friday we stopped at Blockbuster for a movie (Shanghi Knights, which wasn’t very good) before stopping at Joe’s friend’s house to get some cable tools. Afterwards, we went to Circuit City to pick up the APC UPS we had ordered online for my brother’s computer. I’d like to know how Circuit City thinks their current “Express Pickup” procedure is actually express when it’s anything but. Instead of going straight to Merchandise Pickup, the logical place you’d go, we were told to first stop by the Customer Service counter. The same counter that typically has a line of people returning items. Oh yea, that’s express – not! Only after they checked our printed receipt and I.D. were we allowed to actually pick up our merchandise. Ridiculous! The only reason we purchased online in the first place was to get the sweet $20 rebate which made the final price only $20. Too bad the rebates were one per person, per household, or I would have got another one for us.

Just some stuff

After missing it in the theater, we rented Phone Booth. I figured I owed Joe big for making him see Legally Blonde 2. Surprisingly, the movie was good. It was much more interesting than I imagined it could be. Plus it’s only 81 minutes long so you’re not looking at your watch wondering how much longer before it’s over.

I really don’t like the current Real World cast. Well, except for maybe AJ. So why do I watch it? Well, I don’t really. I sit on the computer and it’s on in the background because The Osbournes get on afterwards. The Real World sucks, honestly. I think it’s like those other shows I used to watch – Party of Five, Ally McBeal, and 90210. You start to feel like you have to watch the show just because you always have.

You know you’re getting old when you’re looking forward to going to bed early and getting more sleep than usual. Isn’t my life exciting?

Red white and blue bust

If you liked Legally Blonde, do yourself a favor and skip the sequel. I’m very surprised that Reese Witherspoon agreed to do it, considering how ridiculous the script was. Now, no one was expecting her to earn an Oscar for this role, least of all me, but come on! Elle Woods was much more intelligent in the first movie. She had her moments of valley-girl, but overall she was someone you could respect. Not this time around. I’m the type of person who enjoys the majority of movies I see, but I had to apologize more than once to Joe for dragging him along to see this waste of movie space. We should have seen 28 Days Later instead.

The funniest part was the prepubescent girl who was with her friends in the row in front of us, because she farted really loudly during the movie and they all started laughing.

The Prodigy

For those of you who have already seen it, was it just me or did it feel like Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle was one big Prodigy album? And what is up with all the action movies using their song, Smack My Bitch Up? It was played more than once in the first Charlie’s Angels movie. Then it was used in the newer one, and I am almost certain it’s in the next Tomb Raider movie too. Makes me wonder if Prodigy is really that good (I like them, but that’s just me), or if there’s just not enough of their type of music out there. What are your thoughts (if you have any)?
