Phase Two

20031213-decorations_t.jpg As promised, here’s a picture of our patio decorations. I don’t want to go overboard, but I really think it’s still lacking and isn’t going to bring home first prize. First of all, we need more lights to go around the patio. The ones we bought, which change from green to red, didn’t reach. Then the area to the side of the patio is too dark as well. I’d also like to hang something on the brick wall, but those brick clips they sell won’t work because the mortar isn’t recessed. So what are your suggestions? It’s hard to tell since the white lights are blown out, but that’s Santa on the left and a snowman on the right with some snowflakes (which sparkle) on the bottom. *Sigh* I’ve never done this before, so your suggestions are appreciated. We’ve gotta win! I’m not a competitive person because I can’t stand to lose, so I hope we can think of something good.

P.S. We’re also going to remove that metal hook from the ground since it’s distracting. We contemplated putting red and white lights around it to make it look like a candy cane … but I can’t decide. :p

Baking Brownies

It’s been a busy weekend thus far. Yesterday we ran some errands, including getting some new books from the library (I’m reading a new book every week now that I spend less time online) and a trip to the grocery store. We went to Jewel-Osco, which we haven’t set foot in for a very long time. So long, in fact, that I (re)applied for their Preferred Card since I have no clue where my old one is or even what address and phone number they have on file. Gotta have that Preferred card, lest they rape you with their ridiculous prices.

The real reason I wanted to shop there was because they carry the No Pudge Brownies which are fat free. However, I couldn’t justify the cost of making one batch of brownies; the mix is $3.50 plus another $2 to get the yogurt you need to add to it. And since I refuse to consume anything with aspartame in it, I would have ended up buying the low-fat yogurt so there still would have been fat in the brownies. Joe spotted another box on the shelf – Krusteaz Fat Free Brownies for only $2.29 so we tried those instead. The result? Well …. I don’t particularly care for them. Maybe the No Pudge would have been worth the extra money after all. Perhaps one of these days I’ll splurge and try them. The other ones weren’t horrible … they just have a strange aftertaste to them. Maybe they are made with Mocolate. :p

So it begins

20031209-001_t.jpg Phase One has began. Last night we went to Target and they had some cute lights for the windows for $5 each. So we got the two pictured as well as a light-up wreath, although I’m not sure if we have anywhere to put it. We also got some blue lights to go around the open area between the kitchen and dining room. There’s silver garland there too, so it’s all sparkly which is cool. We picked up a lot of lights this year, actually. Half of it we’re not even going to end up using, but I like to have choices.

I also decorated my cubicle at work. I’ve got green garland going around the top of the cubicle walls and lights hanging around the perimeter. I also have a “window” which I hung some cling-on stuff like candy canes and Christmas trees. I’ll have to take a picture and post it.

We have ESP

On the way home from the grocery store today, we were waiting in the left turn lane when a truck turned in front of us. On the side it said “Now air ride equipped”. I said, “Whatever that means”, and Joe replied, “Yea, I didn’t get it either”. I replied, “Do you even know what I’m taking about?” He said, “Yea, you were talking about what it said on the side of that truck.” That is just too funny because we both noticed the same thing and he knew what I was talking about. That happens all the time with us too. It’s going to get to the point where all you’ll hear out of us is “Yep, I agree” and “No, I don’t think so”. There won’t be any point in real conversation since we can apparently read each other’s minds now. :)
