Ding fries are done!

I’m sure this has been going around the internet for awhile, but I love this song. It’s stuck in my head now.

This evening was quite productive. We worked out and watched an episode of 24, then watched three more episodes while wrapping all the Christmas gifts we’ve purchased so far (which is most of them). 24 is the only show I can watch for three hours and still not be sick of it. I’m going to be so sad when we’re all caught up in a few weeks. Since it was late by the time we were done wrapping, we had cereal for dinner. Tomorrow I’m making steak to make up for it. Cereal is good and all, but it’s really not substantial and I’m still hungry. Plus I’m a meat eater, grrr!

Now we’re going to catch up on the two new King of Queens episodes that aired today before going to bed. This is their last season which sucks.

Would you like an apple pie with that?

New Theme

Ok, I had to put something up with a winter/holiday theme and this was the best free one I could find. I spent countless hours looking too. So I hope you don’t mind, Mrs. SpaceCase, that our blogs are going to match for a little while (probably just until January)! I was really trying not to use the same layout as you have, but I give up … this is a totally awesome theme and I was sick of the monkey.

Holiday Meme

Shamelessly stolen from Simply Geeky.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot chocolate all the way!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Wrap them, of course. They have to be a surprise.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Six years ago I would have said white lights because I liked things ordered and “mature”. Now I’d say colored lights because they’re more fun and festive.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope. I get all the free kisses I want every day.

5. When do you put up your decorations?
Sometime within the first two weeks of December. Any earlier and I grow sick of them by the time Christmas arrives.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Ham!

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child:
I can’t think of one in particular.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I have no idea. Maybe I always knew.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
When I was a kid we’d open all our gifts on Christmas Eve, go to Midnight Mass, play with our new toys for a few hours, then sleep in the next morning before going to our grandparents’ homes. Now we still celebrate on Christmas Eve with my family and spend Christmas with each other since Joe’s family moved to Arizona.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Random ornaments all over the place! Themed trees, while pretty in the store, are rather restrictive. I like to add to the tree every year.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Dread it, hate it, want to move away from it.

12. Can you ice skate?
No, but I’d like to learn. It looks like fun!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
There are so many ….

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
When I was a kid it was all about the presents. Now it’s all about watching loved ones open presents and enjoying the look on their face. Just being together and having fun is the best part of the holidays.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
I’m not sure if I really have one. I’m not into pies, I eat ice cream all the time, and cookies are just ok by me. Honestly, when my grandmother was alive the thing I looked forward to most was her stuffing.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Spending time at my parents’ on Christmas Eve.

17. What tops your tree?
I’m not sure ….

18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving?
Both!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
I don’t have one.

20. Candy Canes!?
Pretty to look at, yucky to eat.

21. What is your wish for Christmas?
Everyone in my family to get along.

Gamefly

I signed up for an online game rental service the day before Thanksgiving called Gamefly. I only did so because unlike Blockbuster, they offer games for every console out there, including the Nintendo DS. I’m already starting to regret the decision, however, because it takes too long to get the games they ship. Apparently they only have one warehouse and it’s across the country in California.

The timeline of events so far:

11/22 – Sign up. Add Animal Crossing and Mario Kart DS to the queue
11/24 – Both games ship
11/27 – Receive both games
11/28 – Ship back Animal Crossing
11/29 – Next game in queue, Burnout Legends, ships due to something they call Fast Return where as soon as the return envelope is scanned by the post office, the data is transmitted to Game Fly so they don’t have to wait until the title is back in their warehouse before sending the next game. This is supposed to make things quicker.
11/30 – Ship back Mario Kart DS
12/02 – Still have no games

I don’t get why Burnout Legends hasn’t come yet since it took three days last time and that was over a holiday weekend. I also don’t get why three days have passed and they still don’t show that we shipped Mario Kart DS back. It’s just not consistent. We’ve had the service for ten days and only played two games. At this rate we’ll be lucky to rent more than five games in a given month and at $22/month I was expecting a little more. Too bad Circuit City’s partner, Gameznflix, doesn’t have DS games. They are cheaper and you can have three items out at a time, including movies.
