My philosophy has always been that in order to be happy, you always have to have something to look forward to. Yes, I know, you’re supposed to “live in the moment”, but isn’t living in the future fun? You can imagine how cool things are going to be, and it sure as hell beats living in the past.
So here’s the things I’ve got to look forward to in the coming month.
The Depeche Mode concert tomorrow night – I can’t wait to hear Precious live!
A three-day weekend (although I’m not looking forward to the fact that it’s supposed to rain from tomorrow until the end of time).
A week or so off work the week before Memorial Day. Originally we were planning on visiting Pittsburgh but after budgeting the trip, well, let’s just say that spending $800 on a 4-day, 3-night stay isn’t really a bargain in my eyes. Don’t even get me started on how difficult it was finding a hotel under $100 a night that wasn’t in a seedy area or lacking the amenities we wanted. So we’re thinking about visiting Milwaukee Zoo to see the new big cats exhibit, the Shedd Aquarium (because who doesn’t love that place?), and Millennium Park instead. Close to home, but still fun and full of photo ops! Plus we might finally hit the Melting Pot, and visit one of those trendy Northside restaurants they always mention on the Food Network.
Game Night at my place. Believe it or not, I think I’m looking forward to this one more than the concert. After my recent e-mail convo with Kevin, I got really jealous that him and his wife have game night with their friends, so I decided to start my own. With Memorial Day coming up soon, I scheduled it for afterward, so I’ve got to wait a month, but I know it’s going to be fun because I only invited the bestest people ever!
So that’s what’s on my plate in the next month. For now, I look forward to crawling into bed and getting all snuggly and having a good night’s rest because we’ll be up late tomorrow hanging out with Joe’s friend after the concert.
What are you looking forward to?
I love games night! A friend I used to work with used to host them and she’d invite friends she knew from all different places and it was so much fun, even though I’m not a big fan of hanging out with a bunch of people I don’t know. But games are such a good way to have something to talk about. What will you play?
When I read “three day weekend” I was so excited thinking I missed something and it was actually THIS weekend. :( Oh well, at least we have one this month.
Excellent! I’m glad you started one up. You’re going to have a lot of fun.
But not more than you’ll have at DM… “I just can’t get enough! I just can’t get enough!”
I totally agree with you on needing something to look forward to. I get downright depressed if I feel like there’s nothing to look forward to.
At the moment, I’m looking forward to Memorial Day weekend, when I plan on going camping. This will be a much needed break because work has been insane and it’s not going to calm down until the end of this month (and somehow I fail to believe my boss’ promises that it WILL calm down after this month).
Beyond that, I don’t really have anything planned… I better come up with something to look forward to soon or I’ll go nuts!
