Tuesday on my drive home from work Joe called me, yelling at me to turn my radio to 99.5 FM (a country music station). I had a hard time finding it and when I did it was on a commercial. He was all excited because he was just on the air for winning a contest. “What did you win?” I asked. “Not sure, but I think concert tickets”.
Turns out he won four tickets to the Brad Paisley concert (with Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram & Kellie Pickler) this Sunday evening. However, he’s not really sure he wants to go since it’s a long drive and it doesn’t start until 7 pm. Plus that venue sucks. I don’t really want to get into it but they rip you off any chance they get. Anyway….
I asked him, “So if you really weren’t interested, why did you call in?”
“I thought they were giving away $1000”.
Oh Joe, you’re so pretty!
I’m not really a country fan, and if I had to pick a country artist to see in concert, I’d much rather see the Dixie Chicks, or better yet, my favorite country singer of all time, Kenny Chesney. However, a coworker told me Mr. Paisley, whose music I have never listened to in my life, puts on a good show, so I’m not sure what to do.
I’m wondering if we should go just for the hell of it. After all, we’ve got four free tickets waiting for us at will-call. I just wish I knew how good the seats are. I imagine they must be close, right? Would you go to a concert with music you’re not that thrilled about and people who you don’t recognize just because you got free tickets, knowing you’ll be getting home late and have to get up early the next day? Not sure it’s worth the trip.
Ooh, I’d go! But I’m a big country fan. :P Kellie Pickler doesn’t interest me much but her last single was pretty good, she’s just incredibly dumb. Jack Ingram, I’m neutral. But Brad Paisley is great and I’ve heard he’s awesome live as well. A few of his videos are concerts and they always look fun. You should find some of his music online and see if you like him. Taylor Swift is amazing. She’s 17 years old but she’s so mature and well-spoken for her age and she has a ridiculously good voice.
I’d go, just ’cause. I mean, I’m not crazy about country music playing in my office all day long… but I rather enjoy concerts. You might find you like them after you see them in person? Sometimes that happens…
I’d be excited to win anything! Good for Joe.
