Ok, I am sooo confused right now!
The Girl wants an iPod for Christmas. Joe called her grandmother today to check whether she planned to get her one and she said no because she was getting both the kids a Nintendo DS (as long as their mom says it’s ok). So we decided we will get her the iPod. The problem is choosing the right one. I’m an iPod virgin because I don’t own one or want one, so I need some help here.
I’m looking through the Black Friday ads online and I see the 4GB Nano is $150 and the 8GB Nano is $200. Target has a deal where you get a $15 gift card with the purchase of the 8GB Nano. However, I found out that the 80GB iPod Classic is only $250. Damn! That’s 10 times more space for only $50 more!
But will the girl not like how big and bulky the Classic is compared to the Nano? Is 80GB way more space than she needs? It just seems silly to spend $200 on 8GB when for 25% more money she can have 10 times more space. But you know how girls can be and if all her friends have the Nano, then she’s going to want that one too. Joe’s friend, who has two sisters, say they all want the Nano because it’s small and cute.
To add more confusion to the mix, I saw an ad for tomorrow at Meijer where they throw in a $50 gift card with the purchase of the 4GB Nano so it’s like paying only $100 for it. And then we can buy the girl something else since $150 was our original budget for each of the kids.
Ugh! I have no idea what to do now. I’m still leaning toward the 80GB because I’m a sucker for a good deal. It’s not like there isn’t plenty of stuff to get the boy to add up to that price (including games for his new DS).
So please share your opinions! Just don’t get me thinking about what color iPod to get or my head will explode.
I have a big one and a nano and use the nano much more. I have loads of music and have a tendency to get bored and will switch some out, so she’d probably be happy with the nano. (like you say, if all her friends have it and she gets something different, that could be a bad thing…kids are weird.) Just my 2 cents.
