Try not to laugh too hard at me for downloading three New Kids On The Block songs tonight. I couldn’t help myself; I’m a sucker for mixes and you may recall No More Games – The Remix Album from, holy shit, 20 fucking years ago. Jeez, has it been that long?
Anyway, it was my favorite New Kids album. My boss and I were talking about NKOTB today and she downloaded some songs from Rhapsody while she sang Step By Step. Haha.
When I got home I pulled out my CDs but I only have Step by Step and their Merry Merry Christmas album (talk about total cheese). I was bummed because I wanted the remixes. But hey, that’s what the internet is for, right? Two of the songs were remixed by C&C Music Factory, another blast from the past. I think I still own that CD too. Quite frankly, I can’t believe I got rid of my Tommy Page CD. Sure, it’s totally cheesy now, but it’s fun to relive your youth by listening to these songs. Let that be a lesson to you – hold onto that music!
If you’re not too embarrassed, tell me what old songs you like from your teenage years. I promise not to laugh. At least not to your face. ;)
My shameful favorites from my teenage years: Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, Belinda Carlisle, The Jets
And I was a huge fan of Madonna, but I’m not ashamed of that one.
“I Wanna Sex You Up” by Color Me Badd was definitely a favorite for me! I went to a dance club last night for the first time in ages, and we had a middle school dance that same day. I was joking with the guy I was with that they needed to play a slow song like they do for the middle schoolers–and then they totally started playing all of these slow dance songs from middle school and high school: “Weak” by SWV, “Knockin’ the Boots” by H-Town, and “Freak Me” by Silk. It made me so happy.
kristi » I like Debbie Gibson too. Joe had a thing for Belinda Carlisle. :) I think I owned all of Madonna’s albums on cassette. I have some of her newer stuff now which I really like even more. Her album Confessions is the best.
msboombastic » I remember that first song you mentioned, but not the others.
New Kids? New Kids???
I don’t know you anymore.
My younger sister was a New Kids fan. Embarrasing stuff from my childhood would probably be Shaun Cassidy. When I was a teen I listened to Duran Duran, The Cure, Bananarama, The Police, U2, etc. No shame there, at least for me. Ha ha!
