Playmobil & Playdoh

I’m sure these toys have been around forever, but I didn’t know about Playmobil until a few years ago. For whatever reason, they’re not sold at places like Walmart or Target. I usually see them at no-name toy and book stores. And I’ve gotta tell you, they make a part of me yearn to be a kid again. They have the coolest animal figures. I even saw an Orca (aka Killer Whale) one today. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was almost tempted to get it. I would have been in my glory with all the animal sets as a kid. Not that I’m complaining – I still had lots of fun playing with my plastic animal figures in the sandbox at my grandparents’ house. Those days just seem so very far away. I feel like I’m getting old.

Oh man, I was just talking to Joe about this entry and had an epiphany – if I bought those toys for the kids, I’d have an excuse to play with them too. Hell yeah. I’m a genius! It’s like the Playdoh we bought last week at Target. It was dirt cheap, and there were so many different colors. The boy and I made snakes with some of it yesterday (here’s mine and here’s the boy’s) while Joe was cleaning his parents’ pool so we could go swimming. God, I love the smell of Playdoh. I used to eat it as a kid too. Whaaat? It’s non-toxic!

Wanna hear something sad? While we were playing yesterday, the boy told me his mommy never plays with him or his sister. No wonder they’re all over me when they’re here. That explains a lot.
