We were discussing where we’d like to vacation this year, and Joe came up with Maine. It never would have crossed my mind, but the more I learn about the state, the more inviting it seems. We’ve seen the Pacific Ocean, so it would be nice to visit the Atlantic. Plus, the lighthouses are picturesque, and there’s the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, puffins and seals in their natural environment. That’s just awesome. I think we’re going to nix our original plans to visit Colorado this year and do Maine instead. Now if we could just decide on what region to visit. If you’ve been to Maine, your suggestions would be helpful. We definitely want to stay on the coast, but we’re not sure which one would offer a good mix of lighthouses and wildlife.
Maybe we’ll even visit Stephen King’s favorite town, Bangor, while we’re at it. ;)
Maine rocks! Colorado is awesome, but it can wait for another day. When we vacationed in Maine, we stayed at a B&B in Bar Harbor and it was a fantastic time! Bar Harbor is perfect because of its proximity to the ocean and all the scenery, activities and wildlife there, and Acadia National Park for the same reasons only it’s all forest and hills and waterfalls. We’re definitely going back again someday.
I’ve always wanted to go to Maine!! I was just thinking that I’d mention to Scott that we really need to head up there for perhaps our next trip (unless, you know, he suggests Hawaii!). From someone who lives in Colorado, it’s a great state and if you like the outdoors it’s lots of fun, but I would personally be heading to Maine as well :)
We’re both so weird when it comes to vacations. We have a lot of the same spots and ideas. I’d love to go to Bangor, Maine (Brian was there last year and saw S.K.’s house!!!) but other than that he said it was nothing special. I’d love to go up in the fall. The East Coast is always beautiful in the fall.
Colorado was on my list before we decided to go to New Orleans!
