On Sunday, June 24th we went to a White Sox game thanks to someone Joe knows through work. We had fabulous seats – only 18 rows from the field near home plate, plus access to their Stadium Club which was an interesting experience. We opted to visit before the game since we made it a point to arrive early. We shared a plate of nachos, E had a lemonade, and Joe had a beer and our tab was $25. Ouch! The club is situated in the outfield on the 3rd base side so it’s not really a great place to hang out to watch the game especially because you need reservations if you want to sit in the first two rows by the glass. We were in the third row which wasn’t bad, and by the time we left the place was packed!
Oh, and did I mention the awesome tix came with free parking in the lot right across from the park? We’ve never gotten such convenient parking before. I guess that is how the rich live, huh? ;)
The only thing that prevented our visit from being the best day ever was the blistering heat. I was sure I was going to melt at some point. There had originally been rain in the forecast and after a few innings sitting directly in the sun’s wrath I was praying for it but it never materialized. I slathered a ton of sunscreen on and it definitely prevented me from getting burned. Plus I was lucky enough to find a Sox baseball cap (in youth size to accommodate my tiny head) at one of the shops. It was a reasonable price of $20 which I was happy to pay to avoid heatstroke.

By the 4th inning we couldn’t take sitting directly in the sun anymore so we went over by the concessions to get some ice cream. Dippin Dots, to be exact. Overpriced, as all concessions tend to be, but just the thing we needed to cool down. Once we had sufficiently cooled off we went back to our seats and as luck would have it the shade was starting to make its way down toward us as the sun started moving behind us. By the sixth inning we were completely in the shade which made for a much more enjoyable second half of the game.
The game itself was rather boring with neither team scoring any points until they went into extra innings and the Sox won by 1. I was just happy they actually won since I’m fairly certain they’ve lost the last few times I’ve seen them.
