The day didn’t start out great – I was up at 3:30 am with a stomachache which lasted past the time I had planned to get up and get going. Luckily I felt well enough to get out the door in time to drop off my “bucket” of urine at the hospital (for a 24 hour urine collection test my urologist ordered) before heading to the spa for my massage.
The massage was ok. The table was warm and comfortable, and the lighting was nice and low with relaxing music playing, but there were some parts of the massaging itself I wasn’t fond of – I felt like there was too much attention given to my neck and scalp, especially because it hurt even though I did ask the masseuse, Dora, to lighten her pressure, which she did, if only temporarily in some cases. I preferred the massage on my back, legs, arms, hands and feet but she didn’t spend as much time on those areas, nor did the foot massage feel as good as when Joe does it. Would I go again? Maybe. But I’d request specific areas now that I know how it works. I did fill out a survey beforehand regarding what areas I was ok with her massaging but I’m not sure she read it because I indicated I wanted my feet massaged and she did that the least whereas I didn’t want my face massaged but she ended the hour by massaging my face (I did end up enjoying it, though).
Afterwards Joe and I had lunch at my favorite Thai place near where I work called Happy Elephant. Once home, I relaxed by reading through the stack of magazines that have been piling up. I also fell asleep for a bit.
The plan for the rest of the evening is to read some more and then watch Gossip Girl while Joe watches the Bears game and get to bed early so I’ll be up earlier tomorrow. While it’s nice to have the option to stay up late and sleep in I’m so used to getting up at 5 am that the days where I get up late feel like they go by too quickly.
