Joe and I can’t decide whether we are just cheap, or not used to how much money it costs to entertain children outside the home. I really don’t know how people do it! We wanted to take the kids somewhere fun today, but Indiana Beach was out of the question due to the questionable weather forecast that included low temps and rain.
We spent a good hour looking online for somewhere that both kids would want to go (they tend to never agree on the same thing) that wouldn’t cost too much. We were going to try bowling, but one game for four people and shoe rental was $20+ and the girl didn’t really want to go. We were also going to try this place called Nickel City where all arcade games are a nickel, but again, the girl didn’t seem all that interested and being a 45-minute drive away, we weren’t chancing wasting the time.
So we ended up at Jeepers which is literally down the street from our place. Thank goodness Joe had remembered passing it! It’s this arcade/indoor amusement park with a handful of rides. We spent $65 for a few hours of fun and that included coupons we used, but at least they both enjoyed themselves, so it was worth it. My biggest pet peeve is spending money to take them somewhere and them complaining, which fortunately hasn’t happened often.
We had pizza (there goes my diet again, no wonder many mothers are overweight: it’s too costly and difficult to eat healthy when you’re trying to feed kids), bought a boatload of tokens (still have a ton left too; maybe Joe and I will go back by ourselves to play air hockey), and the kids got wristbands so they could go on the rides as much as they wanted. They definitely got our money’s worth as we were ready to go far before they were. The nice thing was adults could accompany the kids on the rides for free, so we went on a few rides too.
Now we’re exhausted. And by we, I mean Joe and I. If only I could have the energy of a kid again. :p
It’s expensive enough to entertain just Scott and I, I can’t imagine with 2 kids! Every time we go on vacation I’m amazed that my parents took my brother and I on a big family vacation EVERY year, because it’s so damn expensive just for the two of us!
