Warmth

I’m happy to report we finally have heat in the apartment. Not that you knew otherwise.

Our building is set up such that residents have access to either heat or air conditioning, but never both. So once the decision to turn the heat on is made, that means no more air until Spring. I doubt I’ll be crying over that decision, considering it’s already in the 50’s here during the day, and the 30’s at night. Where did Fall go? We jumped right into Winter which totally sucks.

This also marks the start of the thermostat wars that will last until Spring … me turning the heat up, and Joe turning it down. Let the games begin!

BBQ

We tried Smokey Bones today for lunch. Honestly, I wasn’t impressed, especially considering that they’re owned by Red Lobster. Or vice versa, who knows? Anyway, no one beats The Pit in Hickory Hills when it comes to BBQ. And I should know, because I don’t even like BBQ, but I love The Pit. In fact, BBQ and Italian rank low on my list of types of food I like. On the top of the list? Chinese and Mexican, of course. Nothing tastes better than leftover Chinese. I’ve been munching on Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice for two days now. :)

Speaking of food … I’ve been really lax with the diet this past week and guess what? I’ve remained at the same weight. Weird, don’t you think? I haven’t been exercising either, which I need to get back into. I’ve got the new gym shoes, so now I have no excuse. Except for my laziness.

Also, my headache never came back. I feel so much better than I have in over a week now. I’ve been drinking water only. I’m going to stick with it for awhile. Maybe a bit of regular pop here and there but that’s it.

Someone take my credit card away

It’s not quite over, but it’s already been a busy day. We started off our morning by dropping my car off at the Volkswagen dealership. Walmart Tire & Lube finally ordered my new rims and sent me a check to have them put on at VW. Can you believe that they originally expected me to have them do the work? Uh, I don’t think so … they are too incompetent! I will never take my car to them again.

So while we were waiting for them to work on my car, we went to Oakbrook Center. We don’t go there often, so it was a nice change. They have so many pretty fountains and flowers all around … it’s a unique shopping experience, especially on a beautiful fall day such as today.

American Express Blue Cash

I applied for the American Express Blue Cash card because it gives me three times the cash back that Discover does. I got a call a few days ago saying I was approved. I also had Joe’s name added to the account so he’d have his own card. Well today Joe got his card … and I’m still waiting for mine. Isn’t that silly? I’m the primary cardholder, but I still don’t have a card. Bah. The card is really cool looking, though. It’s mostly see-through with the blue logo in the middle. Very classy. Heehee.
