Yummy in my tummy

We hit our favorite Vietnamese restaurant for dinner tonight. Joe tried their noodle soup and I ordered the tried and true Mongolian beef. I am still burping it up but oh well, it was worth it. The soup was weird and had a somewhat floral taste to it.

We stopped at Jewel-Osco after dinner and managed to spend over $40 on alcohol, cookies, and orange juice. That’s why I hate that store. They have too much selection (although NOT the Lays Hot N’ Spicy chips I’ve been craving) and everything is “on sale” so we end up buying a ton of junk. You gotta admit, though, these are super cute. I hope they taste good! I’m still an alcohol virgin you know.

And the cookies. Well, blame PMS and Joe’s bad influence on those. I almost never ate cookies until I met him. He certainly isn’t making losing weight any easier, but I’ll let him slide since I plan on fully enjoying our three-day weekend.

Tomorrow we’re going to see Blades of Glory. I can’t wait! My bestest friend, the hilarious Nick Swardson, is even in it. Which reminds me, I should really order tickets to see his stand-up show in May. Woo!

GBA – Dr. Mario and Puzzle League

Finally, the game I ordered was delivered today! Amazon Super Saver shipping is cheap but they ship USPS which sucks because it is S-L-O-W. I swear, I’m like a kid in a candy store sometimes because I was so excited. I was showing it to my boss talking about how much fun Puzzle League is. Luckily she likes puzzle games too so she didn’t think I was a big retard.

It looks so pretty in the box it’s almost a shame I’m going to have to rip it open to get my game on.

Chips

Thanks again to power of suggestion, I am craving Lays Hot N’ Spicy BBQ Stax and I’ve never bought them before (I tried one my boss offered me last week). I’d link to them on Lay’s site, but it’s done in Flash so I can’t. Seriously, why do these companies think everything needs to be in Flash? Not only is it painfully slow on my ridiculously fast high-speed internet connection, but they’re potato chips for crying out loud; I shouldn’t have to watch animations and wait for stuff to load just to get info on some chips!

Organized files and Puzzle League

For me there’s an internal struggle on the weekends between feeling productive and getting an appropriate amount of relaxation. If I sit around too much I feel like I wasted time and energy I usually lack during the week that I could have spent on projects and the like. However, if I do too much cleaning and otherwise non-fun stuff, I feel like I never get a break. Finding a balance is tough. I think today I did quite well as I did a little laundry and finally finished the overhaul of our filing I began last weekend. It went from looking like this to this. Not only does it look more organized, it should be easier to file paperwork in their appropriate folders.

Now all I have to focus on the rest of the evening is playing games with the kids and finding time for my latest addiction: Puzzle League. I rented the GBA version of Dr. Mario from Gamefly and Puzzle League came with it. I tried it and have been hooked ever since, even going so far as to order it at Amazon.com when I ordered a handful of DS games on behalf of my brother. Now I’ve also learned that a DS version of the game is coming out later this year. I can’t wait! I’ve been sneaking upstairs and playing in the bathroom while the kids are here since they don’t know about the DS. I haven’t played Dr. Mario since the day the game came in either.

Fridays after work are the best

Yesterday Joe took the day off work. I could not because I’m already behind thanks to this audit we were under all last week and much of this past week.

One of the many things I like about Joe is I don’t have to nag him to get things done around the house. In fact, it was his idea to use some of the day to remove the water softener in the laundry room. Soon after we moved in we were bypassing it because you cannot wash shampoo out of your hair with it running. Honestly, it’s terrible. The water feels slimy and disgusting so we stopped using it. It’s been in the way of completing the new flooring and paint job in the laundry room too, so he spent a few hours yesterday morning removing it. I must say I’m impressed how he soldered the joints of the new piping together. It looks good! Plus I did laundry last night and there weren’t any leaks. Way to go, Joe! He also vacuumed which was nice. Then he watched tv until I got home because he was bored. Too cute.

After work we ran out to return Let’s Go To Prison (it was ok) and finally got a copy of Flushed Away. Of course it would be available the weekend we don’t have the kids. We’ve only been looking since it was released! We might have to make a copy (shhh) so they can watch it next weekend. I almost bought it at Target last week but I’m so over buying DVDs at the moment. They just take up too much space and I rarely pull them out and watch them again. Who needs to when they are on the movie channels constantly?

We also hit the produce market which we haven’t been to in forever. I got all sorts of yummy stuff like onions, tomatoes, limes, and lunch-meat. There’s a pizza place next door and once we got a whiff of that we discarded our plans for me to make tacos and went to another pizza place, Lou Malnatis, and ordered a deep dish pizza. We had a half hour wait so we checked out used games at Game Crazy but they didn’t have anything good. Then we bought junk food at Dominick’s. Seriously, how could I ever hope to be as thin as I want when I love food so much? I swear, almost nothing makes me more content than buying food, or bringing home that delicious deep dish pizza. In fact, I think I’m going to finish the leftovers right now. My mouth is watering at the thought.
