There was a very nice tribute to John Ritter on tv last night. I didn’t catch the whole thing, but at the end they let viewers know that they planned to keep 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter on air. I can’t say I think it was the best decision. Don’t get me wrong, I think they need to bring closure to the show … which would be taken care of if they air the three episodes that John Ritter shot, then another one where his character dies like they plan. But I think the series should end there. I feel sorry for the other actors being out of work, but let’s face it, John was the heart and soul of that show, and I really can’t imagine the show without him. Sure, I’ll give it a chance, as will many, but I would be very surprised if it doesn’t get cancelled this season. The show was only on air one season to begin with. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens. The new “season” begins next Tuesday at 7 pm on ABC.
