One of the games I’ve rented recently from Gamefly is Kirby Squeak Squad for the Nintendo DS. I never played a Kirby game before, nor did I read about it before renting. I just rented it on a whim. Figures it would turn out to be my favorite rental so far. In fact I still have it. I like it because it’s easy to understand and progress through the levels. I’m not one to consult a manual unless I can’t figure something out and the controls are intuitive. It took me a little bit, but I even figured out that instead of sucking up the enemies and spitting them back out, Kirby can swallow certain ones and gain their special powers. Even though the game is fairly easy, it’s still fun. I highly recommend this game and plan on buying it in the near future, although not from Gamefly as their used games are almost the same as getting the game brand new.

Looking for some fun online time wasters? How about checking out these cool photos of abandoned amusement parks or playing a spin-off of You Don’t Know Jack! called Dis or Dat?
I for one would have rather spent the evening watching all the great Must See TV on NBC but the hubby is playing Socom with his friends. I only hope he’s done soon so I can at least watch The Office!
“Dammit!”
You may recognize that little guy in the photo. He’s been around for a few years, but never had a name, until yesterday. Meet Jack Bow-wow-er. Um yea, I’m a bit obsessed with 24 at the moment. We even went to the evil incarnate known as Best Buy last night and bought Season 5 on DVD. What can I say? Joe had a $50 gift card from his boss and it was only $19.99. This is our first 24 box set; all the others we borrowed from friends. We want to refresh our memories before Season 6 begins in two weeks. I am so psyched to be watching this season again even though I can’t stand President Logan. No one will ever top President Palmer; not even a real life president the way things have been going.
So getting back to Jack Bow-wow-er. You see, he’s a little rascal. In the mornings Joe will often find him lounging on his side of the bed. Then when he goes to work, the little bugger ends up in my underwear drawer looking far too happy than a puppy should look. And after work he somehow makes it to a new destination. Yet I never see him do it, nor does Joe. It’s quite the mystery, which I suppose is to be expected from a CTU agent.
Dumb and Dumber
Nothing like a game of Trivial Pursuit Totally 80’s to make you feel like you don’t know shit. Why oh why did we buy this game today? We should have bought Name That Tune 80’s Edition instead. You think I would have learned by now that I suck at Trivial Pursuit!
Gamefly
I signed up for an online game rental service the day before Thanksgiving called Gamefly. I only did so because unlike Blockbuster, they offer games for every console out there, including the Nintendo DS. I’m already starting to regret the decision, however, because it takes too long to get the games they ship. Apparently they only have one warehouse and it’s across the country in California.
The timeline of events so far:
11/22 – Sign up. Add Animal Crossing and Mario Kart DS to the queue
11/24 – Both games ship
11/27 – Receive both games
11/28 – Ship back Animal Crossing
11/29 – Next game in queue, Burnout Legends, ships due to something they call Fast Return where as soon as the return envelope is scanned by the post office, the data is transmitted to Game Fly so they don’t have to wait until the title is back in their warehouse before sending the next game. This is supposed to make things quicker.
11/30 – Ship back Mario Kart DS
12/02 – Still have no games
I don’t get why Burnout Legends hasn’t come yet since it took three days last time and that was over a holiday weekend. I also don’t get why three days have passed and they still don’t show that we shipped Mario Kart DS back. It’s just not consistent. We’ve had the service for ten days and only played two games. At this rate we’ll be lucky to rent more than five games in a given month and at $22/month I was expecting a little more. Too bad Circuit City’s partner, Gameznflix, doesn’t have DS games. They are cheaper and you can have three items out at a time, including movies.
