I like new clothes

Today was a good day in more ways than one.

First off, it was my first day of eating better and not as much. To be honest, it’s not that difficult to do on the weekends. I find it harder to restrict my calories during the week. Something about sitting at a desk all day makes me feel ravished.

Secondly, we saw a really good movie – Disturbia. Since it’s been out three weeks now, I was able to use our free passes. We were the only ones in the theatre too which was nice. I may be a comedy girl, but Disturbia was so much better than the crap fest, Employee of the Month, which we watched a few hours ago. It was not very funny. Thank god it had Dane eye candy or it would have been a complete waste of my time.

Third of all, I got some new clothes, which is always fun. Anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that I’m a tank top fanatic. Well, my favorite tank tops were the Perfect Fit™ ones from Old Navy but apparently they are phasing them out. There were nothing but small and extra small at the store and no decent colors online. Sucky. But no matter, I found some great tanks at Wally World of all places. Not only do they fit better and feel softer, they were only $4.88 each. Score! So suck on that, Old Navy. I don’t need you anymore because honestly, I can’t stand your clothes. The tanks were your only redeeming quality and you blew it.

New clothes

I also got a dress from Sears. I wasn’t too sure about it until I modeled it for Joe and he loved it. I was a little concerned that it was $30 because to me that’s a lot for one clothing item, but it rang up half price. And it just kept happening like that. Everything I bought today was on sale, including these two cute sterling silver pendant necklaces that were 60% off from Kohl’s. I’ve been wanting some new jewelry for awhile so I was happy to find them.

After my little shopping spree, we came home so Joe could change the front brakes on the Jetta. While he did that I cleaned the bathrooms and our master bedroom while doing laundry. By the time he was done with the car it was dinnertime, but we had to run to Target for a few things. We ended up having a late dinner and watching a movie. I wasn’t able to get online until 10 pm which is unusual for me. Now it’s past my self imposed bedtime. I think I’m going to bed shortly, however.

Tomorrow I have to take my dress back to Sears so they can remove the security tag they left on. Interestingly enough, it didn’t set off any alarms, so I’m not sure how they managed to disable it yet forget to remove it.

Movie weekend

The kids have been talking lately about their grandmother buying them both a Nintendo DS so they can get the new Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Don’t get me started on how she shouldn’t be spending that kind of money on them, nor even mentioning it to them until she’s ready to really buy it. I’m just thinking if/when they do get them, I am so going to buy this case for The Boy. He has dropped his GBA more times than I can count. He really needs something indestructible.

We took my car in for an oil change after work today to a newly built Volkswagen dealership closer to home. They asked if we’d be using them for oil changes from now on and we said yes. Then they asked if they could change the license plate cover to advertise their dealership. They said if we agreed, we could bring my car in for a free car wash whenever we wanted, not just during service trips. Well what the hell? I’m advertising for someone one way or the other, so I agreed. At least they asked. The last place just changed them one day, and god knows what service date since I never pay attention. I just know the place where I bought the car wasn’t the place advertised on the plate covers anymore.

We actually rented a movie from Blockbuster tonight (although we haven’t watched it yet). It has been awhile since we’ve rented anything, so imagine my surprise that there wasn’t really anything good recently released unless I wanted drama or horror. Sorry, but for the most part I’m a comedy gal. So I got the dreaded Employee of the Month. Maybe it will be good and I’ll kick myself for taking this long to see it. Hell, at least there’s eye candy, and I don’t mean just Dane. Dax isn’t half bad either.

We’ve got nothing planned this weekend, so it’s a free-for-all. Which is nice since we’ve got stuff scheduled next weekend on for the next month. We’ll probably see Disturbia tomorrow since I have free tickets. Movie weekend it is.

Horsies and kitties

Danada Equestrian Center: April 22, 2007 I really wanted to see Hot Fuzz today, but it was so gorgeous outside that I couldn’t stand the idea of wasting the afternoon sitting inside a movie theatre. After dropping off the kids we went to Target where I got some cute new clothes and then we took our cameras out to get some photos. We wanted to go to Cosley Zoo, but it was way too crowded so we found ourselves at Danada Equestrian Center again. I got some great shots of the horses, and met a very friendly feline who wanted lots of affection. She even started following us and meowing “don’t go!” after we spent some time petting her. She reinforced just how much I want a kitty of my own.

You can check out all the photos I took today at Perfect Pixels. Interestingly enough, the last photo set I posted in 2006 was at the same place. Also, the first set I posted in 2006 was taken on April 21st. I guess January, February, and March are bad photo months for me.

Popcorn

Football Since it was so gorgeous out today (it’s about time!), we took the kids to the park where they tossed around the football and ran around the playground. Then we had lunch at Pizza Hut. I can’t tell you the last time I actually ate inside a Pizza Hut, but it’s been a very long time. We shared a family order of breadsticks, the kids got pasta, and Joe and I got personal pan pizzas. I only ate half of mine (Hawaiian-style) because those bread sticks are filling! I really wanted to try the cinnamon sticks but was way too full to contemplate shoving any more food in my mouth. In fact, I only had one little taco for dinner. It didn’t help that my reflux is still acting up.

After lunch we went to Petsmart and I came extremely close to getting the cutest little Chinese Dwarf hamster. Joe and The Boy were getting impatient with The Girl and me because we couldn’t stop watching this little hamster and all her acrobatics. She was hanging upside down and cracking us up. Her sisters weren’t nearly as interesting. I even had another cage in my hand at one point but then reconsidered because we don’t have much room for another hamster cage, as small as this one would be. Plus I felt like it would take my attention away from Peanut and I felt guilty about that. So as hard as it was, I had to walk away from little Popcorn (the kids named her).

I do plan to have several pets one day when we have the room, and there are a lot of different animals I wouldn’t mind owning, although not necessarily at the same time, including a dog, cat, rabbit, ferret, frogs, and a turtle. Joe might have a heart attack when he reads this!
