Library Blues

I don’t think I care much for our new library. It’s just not as large as our old one. There aren’t nearly as many materials, which disappoints me. I miss the growing dvd collection at the old library, as well as all the new books. Another thing that annoys me about the new library is that even though there is a separate youth section, there are still a lot of teenagers in the adult area on the computers. It seems more crowded and noisier as well. I miss my old town at times like these. And my commute is three times longer. :p

But I just remind myself that we couldn’t afford to own a home in our old town, so we had to move. And this town has a lot of shopping, so it’s not all bad. Plus I really do love our new place. I’m even getting used to the crooked bathroom.

I can’t give it away

I ran out of the body lotion I’ve been using, so I found some old Bath & Body Works lotion in the Cotton Blossom scent when I was packing up my toiletries. I bought a ton of lotion in various scents when I was on my Bath & Body Works kick a few years back. It’s still good, just really strong-smelling and reminds me of Arizona because it’s the scent I used when we went there. The smell is driving me nuts! I can’t throw it out, though, because that stuff is not cheap. Any suggestions on what to do with it?

Anyway, I am starting to feel like my Google-searching skills are lacking lately as I cannot find where to drop off some clothes I would like to donate to people in need. There used to be an Amvets drop-box by the local Mexican restaurant, but when we swung by there over the weekend it was gone. So when we dropped Joe’s daughter off on Sunday, we went a little out of our way before getting back on the expressway to a spot where we used to drop off clothing, but that one was gone too. What is going on? Do they not want donations anymore? I really want to get rid of these clothes but I see no sense in throwing them away when someone could use them, esp. since some of them are brand new, given to me as gifts, that I will never wear. :p

Fall is here!

Welcome to Fall! This is one of my favorite times of the year. After warm weather (albeit not that warm this year), I look forward to the air turning cooler so I can pull out the cozy sweaters. In addition, Halloween has quickly become my favorite holiday. I like it even more than I did as a kid.

FedEx sucks and so does my spice rack

What’s the point of being able to track a FedEx package online when it takes them several hours to update the status? That’s just retarded. For some reason I had a feeling their site wasn’t on top of things and stopped by the rental office on the way home and sure enough, my package was there, and had been there since noon, even though when I checked the status before I left work at 4:30 pm, it still just said “out for delivery”. I guess UPS really is better. Their site is constantly updating. In fact, I do believe last time I was keeping track of a package, the status updated a mere five minutes after it was delivered.

I was really excited to get my stuff, which was the wire mail holder and matching spice rack I mentioned in some previous post. But guess what? The majority of my spices do not fit on the shelves because they are too tall! Waaaah! Apparently they expect everyone to buy the more expensive McCormick brand spices, which do fit, instead of the $1 spices from Walmart. I should have paid more attention to the measurements. Damn! I guess now I have to buy the McCormick ones and when they run out, just refill the bottles with the cheap stuff. What a pita.

Sunday Bloody Sunday

It’s been another lazy day at Nicole and Joe’s “bachelor pad” thanks in part to my ailing tummy. I was up twice during the night with stomach cramps and didn’t feel like getting out of bed when the alarm went off at 7:30 am. We had planned to visit Rockford, IL but went back to bed instead. We didn’t drag our lazy butts out of bed until 11 am.

Once we finally got going we went and had my car washed, visited a few nature spots to take some photos (why have I lost my photo-taking passion lately? It’s really beginning to bug me), and stopped at the Schaumburg library to get a couple of cds. That’s it.

Fun Sunday, huh? I know I’m going to regret it when I go back to work tomorrow. Why is it when I’m at work, I’m constantly thinking about all the great stuff I could be doing if I was just home, and once I’m home, I don’t do much?
