Doing Nothing

Yep, that’s what we’re doing all day – nothing. We’re still in our PJs … Joe playing a game, me surfing the web. We reorganized our dvd collection earlier and put away our gifts. Now we’re just waiting for “dinner” to be ready … which should be shortly as I put our very tiny ham in the oven 45 minutes ago. I am so hungry but I want ham, not cereal. It’s past noon, so it’s all good. :)

What are you up to today?

Organize your decorations

Wow … what a deal! Even more so because they were only $3.33/each, so I got two. Now I’ve got plenty of room to pack up all the xmas decorations I’ve accumulated this year. And to be honest, I’m ready to do so. I swear, as soon as we drop the kids off Sunday morning we’re coming home and I’m taking it all down. I’m done … I just wish Christmas would catch up with me.

Cozy

Ladies … if you’re like me and sleep in flannel pajama bottoms with a t-shirt, here’s a tip – buy the men’s flannel pants at Target and save yourself some money. They are selling the women’s flannel pants at Kohls for $13 which is a sale price (normally $20) whereas the everyday price for the men’s pants is $7.99 … and they are soooo much more comfy and warm. It’s a win-win situation.

Lost

Well, we lost the holiday decorating contest. :p

Honestly, I’m shocked. Now, I’m not one of those people who thinks their stuff is better than everyone else’s – if I see something that looks nicer, I will readily admit it. However, in this case I think we were screwed. We had a nice and interesting set-up, and while I knew who would get 1st place, I was certain we’d get 2nd place. Apparently I was wrong. It turns out the “judges” (ie office staff) prefer ridiculous to tasteful – everyone who won had too many lights and figures in a small space. It was overly cluttered and not designed well, if you ask me. But I guess in their world more is better. Oh well. I can tell you this – I’m not so sure we’ll compete next year if it requires putting way too many lights and ornaments all over the place. I think it’s tacky. You can keep your prizes, thanks.

Bitter much? Maybe just a little. :p

UPDATE: Here’s our setup … and here is the 1st place winner.

One dress, two dress

We’ve decided to attend Joe’s company’s Christmas party, which is in January. One problem – it’s semi-formal dress. Ugh. I own absolutely nothing that falls into this category, well, until today. Thankfully, I severely overestimated how long it would take me to find a suitable dress for this event. The first dress I tried on at Marshall Field’s was great. We had them hold it so I could look around some more … and I found another nice dress at JC Penny’s for only $20; the original price was $100! How sweet is that? So we bought that one and went back to Field’s, but I couldn’t bear to put the other dress back so I got that one too – $47 marked down from $100. So now I have two dresses and only one event to attend. I found out I can return the Field’s dress within 90 days even though it was on clearance, so I’m going to be doing a little modeling for Joe tonight to figure out if I should. I’m keeping the $20 dress no matter what … but I’m not sure if I should keep the $50 one. They both look good on me, so it’s really just a matter of whether I need two formal dresses. Maybe if you invite me to your swanky Christmas/Holiday party I won’t have to choose. ;)
