Rain rain go away, come again another day

Well it’s supposed to be gloomy and rainy all weekend here in Chicagoland. That bites. I look forward to sunshine and fluffy clouds so we can go out and get good pictures. Doesn’t look like we’ll have any of that until Monday when we’re back at work. Mother Nature is such a little whore sometimes.

I guess I’ll be doing a little shopping this weekend. Right now we’re going to my parents’ to hook up my brother’s new kickass machine.

Busy as a bee

What a busy weekend! We had to drag the kids along on some errands yesterday, but we started out so early that we were done by 10:30 am. So then we took the kids to the nature center we like. One thing is for sure – the girl is terrified of bugs. She was very adament about never going back there again. Haha.

So we took them to a playground instead. You know, for as bad as the boy’s allergies and asthma supposedly are, he never has a problem running around outside for over an hour. Maybe he’s growing out of it. That would be nice because it opens up the possibility of places we can take the kids. I hate sitting around in the apartment on the weekends no matter the season, but I especially hate it during warm weather.

After we dropped the kids off at their grandparents’ this morning, we went to Joe parents’ house to clean the inside of my car. Boy did it need it! His mom made us breakfast – pancakes and sausage with maple syrup. Mmmmm … sooo good. Afterwards, we caught a 10:40 am showing of X2, which was really good. Definitely better than the first movie.

I really don’t care for the theatre in my old neighborhood. We saw X2 there today and I almost wished we hadn’t. It’s much smaller than our regular theatre, plus it smells funny. It didn’t help that some dumbass brought their toddler who decided to start crying during the climax of the movie, and instead of leaving, tried to reason with the kid. Have you ever tried reasoning with someone under the age of six? If I was sitting closer, I would have given that pathetic excuse for a parent a piece of my mind. Not only are they rude and inconsiderate to the other movie patrons, but what kind of person takes a toddler to an adult movie at 10:30 on a Sunday morning? Well I’ll let you answer that, as I’m sure we’d agree. I want someone to open up an adult-only theatre that doesn’t allow anyone under the age of 18 EVER. That would be heaven.

After the movie we went to a nature center. Unfortunately, it was very overcast so the photos were flat. I didn’t have a tripod, either, so many shots were blurry. I can’t bring myself to post a bad photo, so I can’t show you the photo I got of three herons/cranes/egrets whateverthehelltheywere because it’s awful. But whatever they were, they were all over the place. It was cool. One of these days I’ll get a good photo of them, especially since a white one has been seen near the creek by our apartment.

I think I hear another thunderstorm rolling in. What a good way to end the weekend.

It’s raining cats and dogs

A good old fashioned thunderstorm has rolled into the Chicago area. You don’t know how much this delights me! We’ve got lightning and everything. Please excuse me while I go lie in bed with my honey and enjoy Mother Nature.

Happy happy joy joy

What a fantastic day! Here’s what contributed to my good mood – yogurt parfait, minimal work, two hour lunch w/ coworkers (including cool boss), early quitting time, pictures in the park. And the night is still young. We’ve got the season finale of John Doe, and a movie – The Transporter. This weekend is going to be sunny, warm, and lovely.

Sandman

I should be in bed right now, but obviously I’m not. I get to sleep a bit later tomorrow, so that’s my excuse. Of course, I should have taken this opportunity to get even more sleep, but where is the fun in that? Plus I had to go spider-hunting. See, for the past four days straight, we’ve spotted a spider somewhere in the apartment. It’s a different (and seemingly larger) type of spider every time. This is freaking me out! I hate hate hate spiders. I’ll take the little ants we had last year over them any day. So I put in a request for maintenance to spray in here. Right now I’m finding it hard to want and go lie down, lest I imagine a big hairy spider crawling over me. *Shudder* Hopefully the sandman (pictured here) will protect me.
