Domo Halloween

I don’t know why, but I really haven’t been in a mood to see any movies lately. Even this weekend with the crazy non-stop rain we’re having, I’d rather lounge in bed than go to the theater. Nothing looks good enough to waste time watching. I heard Pineapple Express and Step Brothers sucked, and I just don’t care to sit through a 2.5 hour movie so we haven’t seen The Dark Knight. I’d like to see Mirrors but it’s only playing at night and I don’t do evening shows; they are just too expensive and crowded. For the most part, I’d rather watch movies at home.

So today instead of seeing Dark Knight like we had considered, we took our time dragging our butts out of bed and just lounged around for a bit before Joe got a call at work which required him to go in for a bit. I tagged along since I had nothing else better to do and on our way back home we stopped at Target for groceries.

I was on the hunt for some Domo goodies since he’s Target’s Halloween mascot this year, but there’s far more displays with him on it in the store than actual merchandise. There were literally only two stuffed Domos in the entire store – one plain one that Joe bought for his office (I had purchased my own plain one earlier in the week) and one dressed up like a devil. What the heck, Target?

Target Halloween

Also, I’m really sick of them putting out the Christmas displays at the same time as Halloween. Is nothing sacred? I hate Christmas more and more every year. Sometimes I wish it would be eliminated altogether.

Habitat hunting

Nice ears Someone was a bad girl today and peed on the carpet. Luckily she’s so cute. So much so that I’ve been running all over looking for a 20 gallon long aquarium with a mesh lid so I can give her more space to run around. I called a large aquarium store this evening who had the aquarium but not the lid. The woman who helped me couldn’t have been nicer. She checked all over the store to see if they sold a kit like Petco does (typically used for lizards) but they didn’t. We decided to check for one at the Reptile and Exotic Animal Show and Sale next weekend. Even if we can just find the right lid, I’d be willing to get the aquarium from the store I called since it’s only $32. I checked Craig’s list but most people just don’t take care of their stuff and I don’t want one that’s all scratched up. The 10 gallon I have now is nearly pristine and I’ve had it over eight years.

I’m looking forward to getting out of the house next weekend to do more than shop for groceries. Plus I love looking at all the cute animals. Last time we went to the show I was temped to get a frog because I just love them (hence the domain name) and the ones they sell are super small and colorful.

A day late, but that’s par for the course with me.

This is the cutest bunny I have ever seen! The more I see these little guys online, the more I think about getting one of my own. Either that or a ferret. Joe knows someone at work who has one and she said they don’t smell nearly as musky as they do in the pet store. They are cute and playful and they can live in a condo-like three-story cage when you’re not home. Perfect pet (other than a cat).

The world’s greatest elevator rides – not for those with acrophobia! The only elevator I’ve been on in this list is the one in the St. Louis Arch. I can safely say I’d be fine never going on that one again because holy crap is it claustrophobic! Plus if you need to use the bathroom once you get to the top, you’re shit out of luck (pun intended) because they don’t have one. It’s too small up there.

I am looking for an ultra-thin camera to carry around in my purse at all times and while I’d prefer a Canon, their cameras in the price range I’m shopping ($100-$200) are just too ugly and bulky. Right now I can’t decide between this Nikon or this Olympus because there aren’t enough reviews to get a good idea of their true performance. I need to compare features more. Right now I just like the idea of getting a blue camera since I’ve always owned silver or black and I also like that both cameras have image stabilization.

Tmobile was hit with a class action suit recently over its charging customers for unwanted text messages. It’s about frickin time! My biggest complaint with them is how I can’t turn off text messaging. I’m not a teenage girl and I don’t like that people continue to text me when I don’t have a plan and have to pay per text. I swear those cellphone companies are all sorts of greedy. I hope I can get some money back for this bullshit.

More cute pets! Heart-shaped ferrets and a hammy going for a dip (I don’t condone bathing your hamster, but it’s still a cute shot). Oh and the cutest kitty paws in the world.

It’s not nice to laugh at other’s people’s misfortune but I admit, this is kinda funny. Like someone in the comments of the article already said, it’s a Whopper of an error. I’ve always thought debit cards were a risky idea and don’t have one. Had it been a credit card, these poor people wouldn’t be getting slapped with fees for an overdrawn account. A credit card offers more protection because you’re not messing around with the money you need for bills and whatnot.

Movies, food and hamsters

The day started out rather mundane, sleeping until 9:30, making a big breakfast, then lounging around and falling asleep on the couch for awhile. After taking a shower in the afternoon I gained a little energy so we went out to rent a movie, Ocean’s Thirteen, and grab some food (Qdoba).

On the way home we checked the mail and my prizes from Jodi’s contest arrived. The little hamsters in the balls are so cute! Thanks Jodi! If you want one of your own, check out Jodi’s Etsy site.

Ocean’s Thirteen was much more enjoyable than Ocean’s Twelve but I can’t help questioning the logic behind the tunnel boring machine. I could have sworn I learned on the Discovery Channel that those machines get left underground because they are too massive to get out of the tunnels once their work is done, so I’m not sure how they could have realistically gotten their hands on one of those machines. Then again, I have to wonder how much of any of that movie was realistic, not that it made me enjoy it any less. But hey, does anyone know if that casino/building really exists in Vegas? It’s pretty cool!
