Low

I feel a bit low today. This is in part due to the weather (I always get depressed in the Winter) but also because I realized I miss working. I just don’t miss working my ass off at a job that isn’t fulfilling and feeling stressed out most days. I was browsing some job postings but it’s difficult finding something I’m qualified for that I would also enjoy. I really don’t want to end up in a soul-sucking job just for money but I do miss the socializing and learning new things that being employed brought to my life. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before I find what I am missing in my life but I’m impatient so I would like it to happen soon.

In the meantime here’s another cute photo of the foster kitties.

Quiet

It’s really quiet in the house at the moment – the dog is snoring in her bed in the loft, the kitties are sleeping on the couch, and outside it is steadily raining. Yep, I’m bored.

Sleepy Kitties

Myagi

Since there’s not much to write about having not left the house since Monday, I present to you pictures of Myagi. He’s such a cutie. I really wish he’d relax more and enjoy being out instead of hiding so much. These were taken about an hour after I brought him downstairs before anyone else came home (since then he ran upstairs and hid under the bed).

Animal House

Uh-oh, I’ve finally entered the realm of not being able to keep track of what day of the week it is; it feels like Friday to me. I spend a good portion of the day with the kitties and Bella too since she feels so starved for attention with the kitties around. Much to my surprise my allergies haven’t been bothering me but my SIL’s are so these will be the only foster kitties we care for until she moves out. It’s probably for the best since we are keeping the kitties in the master bathroom most of the time due to Bella and the fact that they like to get into trouble. Last night once Joe was home we had all the animals roaming freely. Bella would get close and the cats would hiss and growl at her until she slunk away defeated. Myagi ended up behind the entertainment center and cut off power to the DVR and TV while we were watching it by stepping on the power strip button. Luckily we weren’t recording anything!

Sleeping Skipper

Skipper

If it wasn’t for my fear of my furniture being ruined I would love to keep Skipper because she is so tiny and you can tell from the size of her paws she isn’t going to get much bigger. She doesn’t actively seek out attention but if you put her on your lap she’s content to hang out for awhile. She reminds me of Joe’s parents’ cat (Kitty was her name) who lived until she was 23. She was tiny and a tabby as well.

Size comparison

Myagi, on the other hand, is going to be a big boy. You can tell by how large his paws are. Plus he likes to get into stuff a lot so I could see him destroying someone’s home. He already started chewing the loose contact paper on our crappy bathroom cabinet. I’m not so sure I could handle the idea of a cat having free reign over my house when I wasn’t home. It might depend on the cat but they are a lot more curious than Bella – she doesn’t mess with anything you leave out whereas the cats want to investigate it all. Plus they leave fur all over the furniture and our clothes.

Bella

Bella

On the flipside, the cats are more entertaining than Bella when they play. Bella only wants to play with a toy if you have it in your hand and she is trying to get it away from you. If you drop it she loses interest. Plus she doesn’t know how to play fetch. I’m trying to teach her but so far she doesn’t get it.

I have cat toys that I bought back when we had the pet rats: balls with bells inside, a laser pointer, and some ribbon that the kitties love to chase. Plus I bought one of those feather toys at Walmart on Tuesday which they love. I’ll be surprised if it has any feathers left on it by the weekend at this rate! But it’s so much fun so I don’t care.

Kittens

Skipper

Myagi

We picked up two foster kittens yesterday! They are both 4-5 months old and very shy. The white one is Myagi who is a male and the tabby is Skipper who is a female. Skipper tries to hide in the corner but if you pick her up she’ll sit on your lap and purr. She is super tiny for her age too! Myagi is being a bit more affectionate today verses yesterday. They are being kept in the master bathroom to ensure they don’t hide underneath any furniture since the only reason they aren’t ready to be adopted yet is they require socializing. Last night they were making my eyes itch and nose water but today I’m just a bit itchy. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the bathroom interacting with them and once Joe gets home later we’ll let them explore downstairs. I don’t feel comfortable with it alone as I’m afraid they will get somewhere I’d have to forcibly remove them and I’m scared of getting bit/scratched up. For a small little thing Skipper has quite the sharp claws and she was trying to claw and eat me earlier. Haha!

When we brought the kittens home last night Bella was the most excited I’ve seen her except for the time we came home from New York and she was so excited she ended up throwing up. Myagi shied away from Bella but Skipper hissed at her like crazy until she ran away. That’s another reason I don’t want to let the kittens downstairs without Joe’s assistance – Bella wants to play with them so bad and they are scared of her. I had Skipper on my lap while on the computer and she hopped off and ran into the kitchen and then Bella came running and Skipper was hissing and growling until Bella ran away. Poor Bella is just trying to be friendly.
