Pillow-top blues

Don’t you hate it when you spend hours at the mall visiting several stores and trying on clothes only to walk away empty-handed? I do, and that’s exactly what happened to me today. A stark contrast to the last time we went to the mall and I found some cute shorts, capris and tank tops. Ugh. I am in serious need of dress pants for work and if I don’t find any I like soon, I’m going to have to start wearing jeans every day, which while allowed, I don’t feel comfortable doing. I also need short-sleeved shirts, a sweater, and sandals.

Oh wait, I did get a cute handbag for only $4.28 from Steve & Barry’s but seeing how it wasn’t on my list, that hardly qualifies.

Prior to the mall I felt a bit more productive because I picked up a new hair color; Joe is dyeing my hair Cinnamon Brown on Monday. This was prompted by the woman who cut my hair yesterday pointing out how my hair is four different colors. I hadn’t really noticed since the crazy colors are in the back. I took a look at the back of my head in the mirror last night and was horrified. I wanted to go with something a little different since in the past I’ve always dyed my hair either strawberry blonde or auburn. I think the color I chose will be similar to the shade my hair is when it’s wet which I really like.

Oh, and we were tempted to drop $3000 today on a new mattress. A Tempur-Pedic mattress, to be specific. We stopped at this place called Back to Bed so we could try the Simmons Beautyrest we’ve been hearing about and they also sell the Tempur-Pedic beds which, while strange, are very comfortable and don’t transfer motion at all. That’s a big plus since Joe flips around a lot during the night. After 45 minutes of trying several mattresses more than once, we had to admit defeat. We just couldn’t decide. Do we buy the $1000 mattress which will likely need replacing in 6-7 years or the $3000 one which has a 20 year warranty? Really, this was all moot because we’re not in the position to be spending that much right now while Joe’s job is up in the air.

In case I haven’t already mentioned it, there’s talk of eliminating his entire department, but nothing has been set in stone so we’ve been waiting for a final decision for two months now. So for now it’s shitty mattress I guess.
