Huh. I’m not sure whether I should be flattered or annoyed that no one asked for my permission to post a photo of mine on this website. I guess they feel since they gave my Flickr username credit it was ok?
I think I’m more perturbed by the alt text on the photo that says, “If you have taken a better photo of Itasca. Please email us a copy and if we like it, we might use it.” More like “If we find a better photo of Itasca we’ll just take it”. Also that’s one sentence there, not two, brainiacs.
I guess you could be flattered AND annoyed. You clearly have the copyright mark and “all rights reserved” on the photo page at Flickr. You could ask them to at least give you credit in the manner you specify, as is your right. For instance, my photos have been used by a half-dozen sites and I use Creative Commons and usually ask for credit by name – but you could ask for at least a link back to your Flickr stream, if nothing else.
I agree, at a minimum you should be given credit for your photo. That was a pretty bold move on their part.
