I think the Asparagus Growers of America have banded together to promote their favorite vegetable. In the past week, I’ve seen more asparagus on tv and in magazines than I ever recall seeing before. And in the 27 and a half years I’ve been around, I have never tasted it. But that is all going to change tomorrow. We’ve been trying to plan our evening meals better than saying, “Hey let’s grab some Panda Express”. We want to get healthier and hopefully lose weight at the same time, and my thinking is that no matter what we cook at home, it’s never going to be as fattening as fast food. And for the most part, that’s true. So tomorrow’s menu is steak, mashed potatos, and asparagus. I sure hope it lives up to all the hype!
Do you like asparagus?
I like asparagus. It is good.
I love it. A couple of tips: My preferred way to cook it is to steam it until it’s tender-crisp, and keep in mind that asparagus is notorious for making your urine smell strongly of … well, asparagus. Just so you know. That aside, asparagus is one of my favorite vegetables.
I’ve never tried it either. I’m curious to see what you think of it, and what it tastes like.
I like it, but one of my WORST food experiences ever was with canned asparagus. It was a bunch of disgusting mush that looked like puke. Do not ever make the mistake of trying it.
Asparagus is one of the few vegetables I like, but only when it’s really skinny. I’ve never prepared it for myself because I can only find the tree trunk sized asparagus in the grocery store. Where are the skinny ones they always seem to serve at restaurants??
