I love Saturdays

It’s been a fantastic weekend already, and we still have a day and a half to go. We got the boring errand out of the way early, which was getting an oil change for my Jetta. Then we headed somewhere for lunch. Somewhere turned out to be California Pizza Kitchen. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t care for anything on their menu but the BBQ Chicken Salad, and of course, their bread.

After lunch, we stopped in the PetSmart so I could get some pH-down for my Betta’s water. We also looked at the fire belly toads. I wandered over to the adoption center, which was a big mistake. Why? Because they had so many cute kitties that I wanted to take at least two of them home. And by kitties, I really mean cats, but they were only a year old. The one I liked the most, a beautiful grey female, has feline leukemia. She was so sweet and pretty, though. We had to leave.

Next we went to the nature preserve. It’s been a warm day, with a sky full of fluffy white clouds, which always makes photos nicer. We didn’t stay long, because it felt like the sun was getting hotter and hotter. We took some refuge in the library where we checked out several cds.

After we got bored and had cooled down, we headed to a local pond. A small girl and her mother were feeding the swans and ducks. I couldn’t believe how big the baby swans had become. Just a month ago they were so small, and now they’re as large as their mother. The only difference is that their feathers are still grey.

Joe also spotted a mother duck with three very small babies, so I had a field day taking photos of them. They let us get very close, and they are so cute! I also took a small movie of them with my camera. (You can check out all the photos I took today here).

To complete our busy day, we stopped at Walmart to get a few things. We were walking through the Electronics department when I spotted something they never carried before – a monopod. I snatched it up without a second thought. I get tired of carrying around my tripod and rarely use it even when I do because it seems like such a pain. A monopod is just the thing I needed. And the best part is it was only $10. Now, I realize it’s not necessarily a “quality” model, but hey, it works. Plus it came inside a carrying case, which is sweet. I think it will do just fine.

Now we’re just hanging out in the cool apartment, watching tv. It’s been nice and quiet since they’ve fixed the creaking. There’s a faint smell of paint still, but I like it. It’s been a good day. Maybe we’ll end up playing tennis if it doesn’t rain like they’ve been forecasting.
