We stopped in Circuit City today. Didn’t buy anything, but took the opportunity to browse all of their overpriced merchandise (an example – Wipeout Fusion for the PS2 is $20 online, yet they were selling it for $50 – outrageous!). Electronic-related stuff makes me drool, as does music and movies. So even though we didn’t buy anything, it was still nice to look around. I saw a very sweet 19″ LCD monitor that I want. It’s less than what my current Sony 19″ cost a few years ago. I also was looking at a Sony computer that had some really nice flat speakers that kicked out some incredible sound. The music playing was by DJ Precision and was labeled as European Trance. Oh yea, I love that stuff so much. For the 10 days I spent in London I listened to their radio stations more than I have here in the past 10 years. Why? Because they have stations devoted to trance, techno, dance, etc. instead of just rock, alternative, boring-same-old-blink182-sounding-artists and country music here. But I digress.
I’ve never heard of this DJ but now I want to find some of his stuff because it was really good. Oh yea, that’s also how I learned about the newest Winamp which I must say I’ve been messing with all day today and really love. I loaded all my MP3s into the library and am having a fun time searching through all my music, not to mention the streaming radio stations online.
I also got to actually hold a Canon 300D. Man, that plastic sure is lightweight and cheap feeling, but the camera has so many cool features and it focuses lightning fast compared to my Nikon. I really really want a digital SLR now more than before!
We headed over to Tower Records after Circuit City since The Cure re-released a single of Pictures of You yesterday that I wanted. I was rather disappointed to find that Tower didn’t have it. Poo on them! I used to shop there all the time when I worked in the city but they are way overpriced (remember Musicland and the I-can’t-believe-it-still-exists overly-priced Coconuts).
I could have died and gone to heaven in their Trance/Dance section though. All those colourful covers beckoning to me. I could easily spend hundreds in that place. Instead I listened to a few feature cds and ended up adding the newest Paul Oakenfold album to my wishlist over at cduniverse.com when I got home. I don’t link to it here because I use it for my own purposes and don’t actually expect anyone to buy me something for nothing. Although it IS still my birthday. ;)
Anyway … I am itching to buy some new music. I’ve got 300 cds and nothing to listen to. Kinda like the whole 200 channels and nothing to watch syndrome. I am so tempted to make my way over to Evil Clown and sample a bunch of trance cds and then come back home and order them online for cheaper. *Sinister laugh*
my husband loves Trance! he found a real cool site on-line (streaming) that’s devoted to Trance/Techno/Electonica/Vocal Trance… and for the life of me, i can’t remember the URL! i’ll definitely hunt it down for you… i just e-mailed him and i hope to get you an answer today.
i like vocal trance better… but after a while, they all sound the same since they sample the same stuff.
and i listen to CDs more than i do the radio. there’s just too much talk and commercials.
here you go, Nicole:
http://www.di.fm
or http://www.digitallyimported.com
