We’ve rented two teenage-like movies in the past two weeks 13 Going On 30 and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. After liking Freaky Friday as much as I did (to my shock), I was quite disappointed in Lindsay Lohan’s performance in the latter, especially considering the fact that Confessions was filmed more recently. I had incorrectly assumed it was made before she started getting “famous”. I much preferred Jennifer Garner’s endearing role as a thirteen year old girl in a thirty year old’s body. The movie was quite well done. Not funny enough that I’d own it on dvd, but enjoyable nonetheless.
I’m looking forward to the point where all the movies that are currently in the theatre start coming out on dvd so we’ll have more to choose from. Luckily we have the first season of Absolutely Fabulous on dvd to keep us entertained for a bit. There’s only six episodes, though, so it won’t last long.
Speaking of tv, my new favorite cable show is Showtime’s original series, Dead Like Me. We happened to catch the second season premiere and have been hooked ever since. Speaking of, it’s due to be on in a few. Oh yea, is it just me, or does the main character in the show remind anyone else of Linda Fiorentino? Or at least Linda’s character, Bethany, in Dogma? Her voice and mannerisms totally remind me of her.
I really like Ms. Garner. LOVE Alias! Have to check out 13/30.
The young gal that I like is that Amanda Bynes – Big Fat Liar and What a Girl Wants.
I love Coupling on BBC! Going into withdrawals as the 4th “season” was only 5 episodes long.
We only get HBO, but Hubster’s brother loves Dead like me. I’ve seen ads for it, but not seen it. Perhaps on dvd.
